Punjabi University, Patiala, a state university set up under Punjab Act No. 35 of 1961 and holding an A+ grade from NAAC, wants one Law Officer to act as its in-house legal advisor. The post sits with the office of the Deputy Registrar (Establishment) on the Patiala campus, which handles staff matters for the whole university.

This is not an entry-level legal job. The university is looking for a seasoned legal hand — someone who has spent years on service disputes and cases involving educational institutions. A large part of a university's litigation comes from recruitment, promotion, pay and pension disputes of its own staff, so hands-on experience with service matters is exactly what the selection panel will look for.

The pay is a fixed lump-sum honorarium with no separate allowances on top, which points to an engagement on fixed terms rather than a regular pensionable post. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Who can apply: Only serving or retired Law Officers, Judges, District Attorneys, Additional District Attorneys, or officers from Central/State Government, senior judicial service or a Public Sector Undertaking are eligible. A law degree and ten years of experience alone are not enough if you do not come from one of these backgrounds.
• Bar Council registration: You must be enrolled with the Bar Council of India.
• Clean record: No disciplinary proceedings should be pending against you.
• Punjabi at Matric level: As per university rules, you must have passed Punjabi as a subject in Matric or an equivalent exam.
• Pay terms: The honorarium is lump-sum; no other allowance is added to it.
• Reservation: Reservation follows the Punjab Government policy as approved by the university Syndicate.
• Interview shortlisting: Not every eligible applicant gets an interview call — only candidates on merit will be called.
• University's rights: The university may choose not to fill the post, and it may also increase the number of posts.
• No TA/DA: You will not get any travel allowance for the interview, and the form price or demand draft is not refunded.

This is an offline application. You can collect the prescribed form from the Enquiry and Information Centre at the university's main gate, or download it from punjabiuniversity.ac.in and attach a demand draft for the form price in favour of the Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala.

To get the form by post, send a demand draft for the form price along with a 25 x 10 cm envelope carrying Rs. 65 postage stamps and the post name written on it, addressed to the in-charge of the Enquiry and Information Centre.
