PU UIET Post Doctoral Fellowship Recruitment 2026: Overview

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh is offering a Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF-01) at its University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) for the 2026–27 academic year. The fellowship runs under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT – Phase II, which is sanctioned by Digital India Corporation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It is open to recent PhD holders in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology or Electronics and Communication Engineering who want a funded year of research at a well-known engineering institute.

This is a fixed-term research fellowship, not a regular faculty job. Besides the monthly fellowship, the scheme gives you a yearly contingency grant on a pro-rata, reimbursement basis and travel support for research visits, all governed by the scheme guidelines.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The fellowship lasts 12 months and is tied to the 2026–27 academic year.
• Not for regular employees: You cannot hold a regular job while taking the fellowship. If you are in a temporary position, you can apply, but you must leave that position once selected.
• PhD source: Your PhD must come from another institution — a PhD awarded by UIET, Panjab University itself is not accepted.
• Mentor at UIET: You need to line up a mentor or guide at UIET who holds a PhD and a regular academic or research position in CSE, ECE or IT before you apply.
• Research proposal: Your application must carry a proposal with clear objectives, expected outcomes and deliverables.
• Industry edge: Preference goes to applicants with active industry links or research that tackles industry-relevant problems.
