PU Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh is looking for one Research Fellow for its Srimanta Sankardev Chair. The fellow works on the Chair's project titled "Srimanta Sankardev", and the Chair is coordinated by Prof. Supreet Kaur, with applications handled through the Department of Sanskrit in Arts Block-I.

This is a one-year research fellowship, not a regular university job. What makes this notice different is that you apply with your own research proposal, so a well-planned concept matters as much as your degree. A post-graduate in any discipline can apply — the notice does not limit the fellowship to Sanskrit graduates — as long as you want to research this subject.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Research proposal: Send a typed proposal of 1,800 to 2,000 words with a detailed concept, a chapter plan, a short bibliography and your methodology.
• No other funding: You must not be getting any scholarship or grant from any government, state or private body. If shortlisted, you give a Rs. 10 affidavit saying so, attested by a District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, SDM, Executive Magistrate or another officer named in the notice.
• Progress reports: You present a report of your total work every two months. Experts or your supervisor evaluate it, and the fellowship stops if you fail to report.
• Tenure: The fellowship runs for a fixed period of one year. The position is temporary and ends with the project.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

• Build the study chapter by chapter following the proposed methodology

• Revise the work based on feedback from the experts and supervisor
