Prasar Bharati Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Prasar Bharati is building a panel of casual news, editorial, production and technical assignees for the Regional News Unit at Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati. This is a practical opening for people who understand broadcast news, Assamese-language presentation, newsroom production or television graphics. The engagement is assignment-based rather than a regular appointment, so it best suits media professionals and trained newcomers who are comfortable with an irregular work schedule.

The panel brings the complete newsroom workflow under one notice: presenting a bulletin, shaping stories, updating the website, supporting a broadcast, editing video, operating on-screen graphics and producing accurate Assamese copy at speed. You should choose the role that matches your training and portfolio, because the application envelope must name the position clearly and each category has its own skill requirements.

Posts and Disciplines

  • News presentation: Casual News Readers and News Anchors deliver Assamese or English bulletins with clear pronunciation, confident camera presence and awareness of current affairs.
  • Editorial desk: Assistant News Editors work with news material, editorial judgement and broadcast-ready copy in Assamese or English.
  • Digital publishing: Assistant Website Editors prepare and manage news content for the unit's online platforms, with new-media exposure treated as useful.
  • Studio production: Broadcast Assistants support television and radio production and coordinate audio-visual material for bulletins.
  • Post-production and graphics: Video Editors shape recorded footage, while CG Operators prepare the text and graphics shown during broadcasts.
  • Language support: Assamese Stenographers turn spoken material into accurate shorthand and typed copy for newsroom use.

Post-wise Duties

News Reader and News Anchor

You will present bulletins, check pronunciation and modulation, follow developing stories and conduct interviews when assigned. A broadcast-friendly voice and confident on-camera delivery are central to the role.

Editorial and Website Roles

You will review incoming stories, improve copy for broadcast or web use and keep coverage accurate and current. Editorial judgement and regional awareness matter because the unit covers Assam alongside national and international developments.

Production, Video and Graphics Roles

You will prepare audio-visual material, edit footage, support studio output and operate computer graphics according to the bulletin plan. Reliable coordination with the editorial desk helps every item reach air in the right form.

Assamese Stenographer

You will take shorthand, type Assamese material and keep newsroom text accurate under deadline pressure. Speed must be matched by language accuracy, especially for names and fast-changing news.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Residence: The panel is open to people of Indian origin who live in Assam.
  • Status: Empanelment does not create a regular post or any claim to permanent employment.
  • Work allocation: A selected person may receive no more than seven assignments in a month, and work depends on the unit's needs.
  • Attendance costs: The organisation will not pay travel or daily allowance for the test or interview.
  • Conduct: Canvassing can lead to rejection, and an incomplete application will not be considered.

Application Submission Notes

Send the prescribed form with self-attested supporting copies to The RNU Head, Doordarshan Kendra, R.G. Baruah Road, Guwahati 781024. Write "Empanelment of [name of position] for RNU, DDK, Guwahati" on the envelope. You may add a detailed CV, but the prescribed form is compulsory.
