NITT JRF ECE Recruitment 2026: Overview
National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NITT) is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. You will join a project on an indigenous RISC-V based lightweight edge AI processor for Internet of Things enabled healthcare applications. The project covers application-specific integrated circuit implementation, chip fabrication and testing, linking processor research with healthcare technology.
The work is funded by the Centre for System On-Chip Design and Fabrication. Dr. Varun P. Gopi leads the project as principal investigator, with Dr. B. Naresh Kumar Reddy as co-principal investigator at the Tiruchirappalli campus in Tamil Nadu. This is a project engagement within the department.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: The stated duration is 36 months. Continuation depends on a performance review every 12 months, so the complete project duration is subject to those reviews.
- Research registration: If selected as JRF, you may register for the PhD or MS-PhD programme under NITT rules. This permission remains subject to the institute rules and regulations.
- Travel arrangements: NITT will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the interview. Keep this condition in mind when arranging your visit.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
First-class BE/BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from a recognised university/institute, plus ME/MTech/MS in VLSI Design, Embedded Systems, Microprocessors or another ECE specialisation related to VLSI.
Preferred Qualification
Knowledge and experience in ASIC design, chip fabrication flow and VLSI tools are an advantage. Familiarity with ASIC/EDA tools and hardware debugging is desirable.
