NIPER Guwahati, the only National Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in India's North Eastern Region, has re-advertised the post of Chief Executive Officer for its Bio-NEST Incubation Centre. The centre is funded by BIRAC, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, under the Bio-NEST scheme to support pharmaceutical and herbal research start-ups from the region. The role suits professionals with a strong background in start-up incubation, technology business management, or pharma/biotech industry leadership.

Who Can Apply?

• Option 1 (PhD route): Doctorate in Life Sciences or allied sciences from a recognized university with at least 5 years of experience (excluding PhD tenure) in Industry, CRO, Technology Business Incubators, Start-ups, Innovation Management, or Academic/Research organizations.
• Option 2 (Management route): Master's Degree in Business Management from a recognized university with 10 years of managerial experience in Industry, CRO, Technology Business Incubators, Start-ups, Venture Capital Firms, or Innovation Management in technology sectors.
• Additional requirement: Experience in articulating incubation policy documents, knowledge of the start-up and entrepreneur ecosystem, and proactive networking with industry and incubation centers.
• Desirable: A PhD in Life Sciences/Allied Areas is preferred. Candidates with experience at science and technology-driven start-up incubators will have an advantage.

Note: Only Indian Nationals can apply for this post. All appointments are on a contract basis for one year or less, tied to the Bio-NEST project duration, and will not continue after the project ends. Any subsequent contract in this or another project counts as a fresh appointment. Canvassing in any form will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 45 years.
• Age Relaxation: Relaxable for reserved categories as per Government of India norms.
• Age will be calculated as on the last date of application, 14 August 2026.

Salary

• The selected candidate will get a consolidated monthly salary of Rs. 1,00,000.
• This is a fixed consolidated pay for the contractual project position under the DBT-BIRAC Bio-NEST scheme.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Screening of Applications: Your application is screened based on the qualification and experience details you submit in the online form. Incomplete applications or those without supporting documents will be rejected.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview by the Screening/Selection Committee. Candidates already employed in government organizations must apply through proper channel or produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview.
