NII ICMR Tech Support I and III Recruitment 2026: Overview
National Institute of Immunology (NII) is hiring Project Technical Support-III and Project Technical Support-I staff for an ICMR-funded, time-bound research project led by Dr Sarika Gupta. The project studies an osteocalcin-based therapeutic platform for protecting the blood-brain barrier and resolving neuroinflammation in sepsis, neonatal sepsis and neurodegenerative disease. Both appointments are contractual project roles rather than permanent institute positions.
The team needs practical laboratory support across cell culture, molecular biology and animal work. The notice specifically points to RNA isolation, quantitative real-time PCR and western blotting, so this opportunity is best suited to people who are comfortable with hands-on experimental work and careful documentation. The two grades provide entry routes for both a technical diploma holder and a graduate or postgraduate life-science professional.
Posts and Disciplines
- Project Technical Support-III: the senior technical role supports laboratory research and experimental work across molecular and cell-biology methods. A postgraduate background and prior laboratory or animal-handling exposure strengthen your fit for this grade.
- Project Technical Support-I: the supporting technical role is intended for a Class 10 applicant with a relevant technical diploma and practical subject experience. You will work alongside the research team on routine laboratory preparation, records and assigned procedures.
Post-wise Duties
Project Technical Support-III
You will take a larger role in cell culture and molecular-biology experiments, including RNA isolation, quantitative real-time PCR and western blotting. You may also support animal handling, organise experimental results and help the investigator maintain reliable laboratory records.
Project Technical Support-I
You will help prepare the laboratory for daily work, assist with samples, materials and routine technical procedures, and keep records under the research team's guidance. Your diploma training and relevant practical experience should support safe, consistent bench work.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Short contract cycle: Appointment is made for six months at a time or for the remaining project duration, whichever is shorter.
- Project link: Continuation depends on the sponsored project and institute requirements; it does not create a right to regular employment.
- Interview mode: Interviews will be held offline, and only shortlisted applicants will be called.
- Housing: NII will not provide hostel or housing facilities to the appointed staff.
- Travel: No TA or DA is payable if you are called for the interview.
- Category record: If you claim SC, ST, OBC or PH status, attach documentary proof with your application.
- Contact rule: Canvassing for the role will disqualify your application.
Application Submission Notes
Email the prescribed application to sarika@nii.ac.in and clearly mention the Osteocalcin-Based Therapeutic Platform project. Include your complete CV, email address, telephone details and the names of three referees.
Your CV should explain your experimental expertise and publications, where applicable. Shortlisted applicants must bring or provide attested certificate copies during the interview process, and incomplete applications will not be considered.
