MBWHG Guardsman Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Meghalaya Border Wing Home Guards Battalion (MBWHG) is enrolling Guardsman and Equivalent Ranks volunteers through the state's Civil Defence and Home Guards Department. The deployment supports service in the remote Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills areas along the Bangladesh border. This is a temporary, part-time volunteer engagement, and the notice makes clear that joining does not create a right to a permanent government post.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Deployment period: the initial engagement lasts one year. An extension may follow if your performance in the assigned work supports it; continued deployment is not automatic.
  • Volunteer status: you cannot claim regularisation or permanent retention on the basis of this deployment. Read this condition carefully when deciding whether the engagement suits your plans.
  • Ending the engagement: the department may dismiss or end a volunteer's deployment at any time without giving reasons. The notice does not promise service for an assured longer period.
  • Place of service: you must be ready to work anywhere in the remote border areas of the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills adjoining Bangladesh. Your home district does not fix your eventual deployment location.
  • Reservation: the state reservation policy and roster do not apply to this enrolment because the deployment is voluntary. The notice does not provide a community-wise allocation.
  • Updates: no separate interview intimation will be sent to you. You must watch the departmental notice boards and website for the list and scheduling announcements.
  • Travel and stay: arrange your own journey and accommodation and be prepared to stay for two or three days. No travel or daily allowance is payable for the journey or stay.
  • Personal risk: the department states that it will not accept responsibility for damage or injury to volunteers during the enrolment process.
  • Fair conduct: trying to influence the process directly or through another person can lead to disqualification. Offering a bribe may also result in prosecution.
  • Cancellation: the department may cancel the enrolment fully or partly without giving reasons. An application therefore does not guarantee that the process will finish unchanged.

Application Submission Notes

Use the prescribed Standard Form and send it to your respective District Home Guards Office, Officer Commanding the District Training Centre or Civil Defence Office through which you are deployed with a requisitioning agency. The notice accepts delivery by hand or by post, but the receiving office must get your application within the stated window.

Late or incomplete applications will be rejected, and the department will not enter into correspondence about such rejection. You can consult the detailed notice at the listed district offices, training centres, Civil Defence offices, the Central Training Institute at Mawdiangdiang in Shillong, or the department's website.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out assigned Home Guards duties in the border deployment area.
  • Watch assigned locations and report unusual activity to the supervising officer.
  • Follow the battalion's duty instructions and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with fellow volunteers during assigned duties.
  • Keep clear records of incidents and communicate reports promptly.
  • Support the requisitioning agency's guarding arrangements within the assigned role.
