KEA School Teacher Recruitment 2026: Overview
Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is conducting this recruitment for Residential School Teachers in the Kalyana Karnataka cadre of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Karnataka. These are regular teaching appointments for the state's residential-school system, and the competitive examination is being organised centrally by KEA. The local-cadre focus is important: claims connected with Kalyana Karnataka reservation must be backed by the prescribed eligibility certificate.
The role is suited to trained elementary-school teachers who can work in a residential learning environment, manage classroom teaching and support children beyond ordinary lesson hours. Because the schools serve students living on campus, the job calls for consistent academic support, supervision and safeguarding, along with clear communication in Kannada. Your educational and reservation documents must match the details entered online, as KEA can cancel a claim that is not supported during verification.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Local cadre: this drive is tied to the Kalyana Karnataka cadre. You should claim the local-cadre benefit only when you hold the certificate required under the applicable rules.
- Probation: a candidate appointed through direct recruitment will serve a two-year probation period before confirmation, subject to the state service rules.
- Pension: the appointment carries coverage under the National Pension System (NPS), rather than the earlier defined-benefit pension arrangement.
- Kannada requirement: candidates who did not study Kannada as the first or second language at the prescribed school level may need to pass the separate qualifying Kannada language paper. Its marks do not add to the competitive-exam merit score.
- Qualification cut-off: you must already hold the required marks card, degree, diploma and TET certificate by the application closing date. Waiting for a qualifying result does not meet the notification's condition.
- Original records: qualification and claim-related certificates must be produced in original during document verification. A mismatch or missing original can lead to cancellation at any stage.
- Reservation claims: caste, income, rural, Kannada-medium, ex-servicemen, disability, transgender and other special-category claims must use the notified forms and remain valid on the relevant cut-off date.
- Medical fitness: appointment is subject to the candidate being physically and mentally fit for service, with the required medical certificate produced when asked.
- Application accuracy: KEA does not allow routine correction of submitted information, so names, qualification details and reservation selections should be checked carefully before final submission.
- Exam centre: the authority will announce centres and the examination schedule separately. Requests to change an allotted centre are not ordinarily accepted.
Residential-school teaching also involves a broader duty of care than a day-school timetable. You may need to coordinate with wardens and school staff, monitor student progress and help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment. The notification makes document accuracy central to the recruitment, so keep the originals and current category certificates ready well before KEA calls shortlisted candidates.
