KEA Residential School Teacher Recruitment 2026: Overview

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is managing the recruitment of Residential School Teachers for the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Karnataka. The notification is for the Residual Parent Cadre, so the appointments belong to the statewide residential-education system rather than one named school or district. This is a regular government recruitment handled through a common competitive process, with the department retaining control over school allocation and later service administration. The post combines classroom teaching with the wider supervision expected in a residential learning environment.

The role is designed for teachers who are comfortable working closely with students beyond a single classroom period. Residential schools bring together children from different social and regional backgrounds, and the teacher is part of a structured campus routine that includes academic support, study discipline and student welfare. You should therefore view this as a school-community role, not only a timetable-based teaching assignment.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Cadre scope: These posts fall under the Residual Parent Cadre. Your eventual school and district will be decided by the Social Welfare Department according to its staffing needs and the applicable Karnataka service rules.
  • Departmental revision: The notice says the post-wise and category-wise allocation may be revised if the department sends updated details under later government orders. The final published allocation should be checked before you lock your preferences.
  • Probation: Direct recruits enter a two-year probation period. Confirmation depends on meeting the service conditions that apply to Karnataka civil servants and to the residential-school establishment.
  • Language setting: Kannada is central to the recruitment and the working environment. The authority applies a separate Kannada-language requirement where the prescribed school-study exemption does not cover you.
  • Campus environment: A residential school operates through teaching periods, supervised study and coordinated student support. You may be expected to work with wardens, school leaders and other teachers so that academic and residential routines stay aligned.
  • Certificate scrutiny: Claims made in the online form must be supported with original records when KEA calls you for scrutiny. A mismatch in your qualification, reservation or special-category claim can cancel the candidature even after the examination.
  • Exam administration: KEA may hold the competitive test as a computer-based examination or an offline OMR test. It also controls centre allocation, and the notification does not promise a centre change after allotment.
  • Reservation records: Applicants using Karnataka reservation or special-category benefits should ensure that their certificates follow the prescribed state format and carry the required revenue-department details. An unsupported claim is considered under the rules applicable to the remaining valid category, where permitted.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the assigned school subjects through clear daily lesson plans
  • Assess student work and keep accurate academic progress records
  • Guide students during supervised study and remedial learning sessions
  • Manage classroom discipline in a safe and inclusive manner
  • Coordinate with wardens, school leaders, and fellow teachers on student support
  • Prepare learning activities suited to students with different academic needs
  • Communicate student progress and concerns through the school reporting system
