KAU Rice Research Station Senior Research Fellow Walk-in Interview 2026

The Rice Research Station, Vyttila, under Kerala Agricultural University, is looking for one Senior Research Fellow for the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Management of Salt Affected Soils and Use of Saline Water in Agriculture. This is an ICAR-coordinated project (age relaxation for this post follows ICAR rules), and it studies soil salinity and saline water challenges that affect paddy and other crops in Kerala's coastal and backwater regions. The post is purely temporary and contractual, and it runs only until the project is completed. There is no provision for absorption or re-employment in KAU after the project ends, and you will only be entitled to the consolidated pay attached to the post — no other service benefits apply.

As an SRF, you will support the Principal Investigator (PI) in research and project activities — this includes field experiments, sample collection, laboratory testing, and any other duty assigned by the PI from time to time. The role is full-time and requires you to be based at the Rice Research Station, Vyttila. This notification was issued by the Professor & Head of the station on 20 August 2026, under order No. KAUDOR/442/2023-RES A2 dated 13 August 2026.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Sc (Agri) in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry
• Preferred: Candidates who have qualified NET (ASRB) will be preferred
• Desirable: 2 years of research experience in a relevant field, along with knowledge of how to conduct field experiments and soil and water analysis in saline soils

Note: You must bring all your original certificates, including your experience certificate, to the interview — candidates without originals may not be considered.

Age Limit

• You should be under 35 years (for men) or 40 years (for women) as on the interview date.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates, and 3 years for OBC candidates, as per ICAR rules.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 37,000 per month plus eligible House Rent Allowance (HRA).
• This pay is attached only to the project post — you will not be entitled to other government service benefits.

Selection Process

1. Document Verification: Bring all your original certificates, including your experience certificate, along with photocopies, on the interview day.
2. Walk-in Interview: Conducted on the spot at Rice Research Station, Vyttila.

There is no written exam for this post — you will be selected purely on the basis of the walk-in interview and document check.

Please note the terms of this contractual engagement: the appointment is co-terminus with the project and can be terminated at any time in case of unsatisfactory performance. Selected candidates can also be discontinued with one month's notice for administrative reasons. The decision of the Principal Investigator on all matters will be final and binding.
