IIT Jammu JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation project in its Department of Chemical Engineering. The project, titled Surveillance-Driven Integrated Platform for Pathogen Detection in Critical Care Settings, brings engineering and life-science methods together around a healthcare problem. This is a project appointment for someone seeking time-bound research experience on an externally funded study.

The academic routes span chemical, biotechnology, biomedical and biochemical engineering, along with biotechnology, biology, microbiology and allied subjects. That mix shows the project needs someone comfortable working across discipline boundaries, while prior familiarity with a molecular biology laboratory can strengthen your profile. Your exact engagement category will depend on how your degree and GATE or NET background fits the funding rules.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: The appointment begins with an initial three-month term and may be extended for up to three years. Continuation is tied to the project and its norms, so this is not a regular institute position.
  • Engagement category: Applicants who meet the stated GATE or NET route can be considered as JRF. Degree holders who have never qualified GATE may instead be engaged as Project Associate-I under the cited ANRF office memorandum.
  • Shortlisting: Meeting the basic qualification does not by itself guarantee a call. IIT Jammu may shortlist profiles according to academic merit and the project’s needs.
  • Communication: Shortlisted applicants will receive the interview schedule by email. Keep the email address and phone number in your form active and accurate throughout the recruitment.
  • Interview format: The interaction will be held through an online platform. Shortlisted applicants should be ready to show their updated CV and supporting originals when instructed.
  • Current employment: If you are already working and are selected, you must provide a relieving certificate from your employer before joining.
  • Application accuracy: You are responsible for the authenticity of the details, documents and photograph supplied with the form. Check each upload carefully before final submission.
