IIT Hyderabad has released a notification for 3 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions at the RMS Lab, run in collaboration with BARC, Mumbai. The posts are spread across two separate organ-on-chip research projects — one on 3D-printed organ-on-chip devices for precision oncology in lung cancer, and another on 3D-printable antimicrobial composite hydrogels for bone tissue engineering. All three posts can lead to a PhD depending on your performance. Since the projects are interdisciplinary, you're welcome to apply even if you have strong experience in only one part of the work — you can pick up complementary skills on the job.

Who Can Apply?

For the 3-Year Organ-on-Chip Project (ANRF):

• Qualification: M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Biosciences, with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. OR M.Sc in Biotechnology, Life Sciences or equivalent (like M.Pharma) with your own fellowship or 1 year of research experience.
• Preferred Skills: Knowledge of organoid culture.

For the 5-Month Antimicrobial Hydrogels Project (BRNS):

• Qualification: Same as above (M.Tech/M.Sc with the required marks or research experience).
• Preferred Skills: 3D spheroid culture or microbiology experience with cell culture.

Students with their own DBT/DST-INSPIRE/ICMR/CSIR/UGC fellowships are especially encouraged to apply for the 5-month project to experience the IITH research environment before joining for a PhD on their own fellowship.

Age Limit

• You should not be more than 32 years old to apply for these positions.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get the standard JRF stipend plus HRA as per project norms.
• The exact stipend amount was not specified in the notification.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection for these posts will be done in 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting: Your application and CV will be screened on merit. Only shortlisted candidates will be informed by email by 4:00 PM on 17 August 2026.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed online on 18 or 21 August 2026 (afternoon session).

As there are only two posts open, candidates who are not shortlisted for the interview will not receive any further communication.
