IIT Guwahati has released an advertisement for 5 posts — three Senior Research Fellow (SRF) positions and two Associate Project Engineer positions — in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering, for a research project titled "Wearable IoT Enabled Devices for Pre-disease Condition Monitoring and Epidemic Surveillance in the beyond-5G Era." Selection is entirely interview-based — there is no written exam, and the interview itself will be conducted online. This project suits candidates with a background in electronics, communication or electrical engineering, especially those with a GATE/NET score or prior research experience in IC design, sensors, antennas or device fabrication.

Who Can Apply?

SRF (Direct)-1:

• M.E./M.Tech or B.E./B.Tech in EEE/ECE/EE with a valid GATE/NET score or other national exam, plus 2 years of research experience
• Experience in Analog IC Design, Chip Measurements and PCB Testing is highly desirable

SRF (Direct)-2:

• M.E./M.Tech/MSc in EEE/ECE/Nanotechnology/Electronics/Physics or related discipline with GATE/NET score plus 2 years of research experience, OR a PhD candidate with thesis submitted in a relevant discipline
• Expertise in Spintronics, Nanoelectronics, device fabrication, cleanroom work or simulation tools like COMSOL is desirable

SRF (Direct)-3:

• M.E./M.Tech/B.E./B.Tech in EEE/ECE/Nanotechnology/Electronics or related discipline with GATE/NET score plus 2 years of research experience, OR a PhD candidate with thesis submitted
• Expertise in sensor development (electrochemical/TFT/FET), material synthesis and characterization is desirable

Associate Project Engineer-1:

• M.E./M.Tech in EEE/ECE/EE, OR B.E./B.Tech in EEE/ECE/EE with 3 years of research experience
• Experience in Analog IC Design, Chip Measurements and PCB Testing is highly desirable

Associate Project Engineer-3:

• M.E./M.Tech/MSc or B.E./B.Tech/BSc in EEE/ECE/Electronics/Physics or related discipline with 3 years of experience
• Knowledge of Antenna, Wireless Communication, CST/HFSS or Mixed Signal Design is desirable

Salary

• SRF (Direct) posts: Consolidated pay of Rs. 49,560 per month (Rs. 42,000 pay + Rs. 7,560 HRA)
• Associate Project Engineer posts: Consolidated pay of Rs. 43,660 per month (Rs. 37,000 pay + Rs. 6,660 HRA)

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done through an interview only:

1. Online Interview: Scheduled on 20 August 2026 (Thursday) at 9:30 AM (tentative). The interview will be conducted online.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email on 19 August 2026. Selection is based purely on interview performance.
