ICAR-IARI Young Professional-II Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) is engaging a Young Professional-II at its Regional Station, Amartara Cottage, Shimla. The role belongs to an Ignite Life Science Foundation-funded project on pre-breeding climate-resilient and disease-resistant wheat using genes from Triticale × Wheat-derived rye chromatin. It is a hands-on crop-research assignment that combines wheat field work, molecular techniques and research documentation, so your application should make the connection between your postgraduate training and this project clear.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed project tenure: The engagement is temporary, contractual and non-regular. It runs for one year or until the project is completed or ended, whichever happens first, unless project or funding rules allow an extension.
• No regular claim: The position ends with the project. You cannot claim regular appointment, absorption or continued work in ICAR or IARI after it closes.
• Initial screening: Applications are checked before interview invitations are issued. Only people found suitable and shortlisted will receive interview information by email.
• Original verification: If shortlisted, you must bring original certificates and supporting records for checking at the physical interview, together with the additional material requested in the application proforma.
• Current employment: If you are already employed, carry a No Objection Certificate from your present employer wherever it applies.
• Relative declaration: Every applicant must complete the prescribed declaration. If a near or distant relative works in ICAR or IARI, disclose that person's name, role, duties and relationship.
• Research records: The application format asks you to report academic qualifications from Class 10 onward, relevant work of at least one year and published research papers with proof.
• Data ownership: You must follow laboratory safety, biosafety and data-security rules, keep project data and test results confidential, and accept that work products and intellectual property remain with ICAR-IARI.
• Leave rules: Leave is available only on a pro-rata basis under the ICAR guidelines for Young Professionals. Other leave and leave encashment are not permitted.
• Interview costs: ICAR-IARI will not pay TA, DA or other expenses for attending the interview, so you need to arrange travel to Shimla yourself.
• Accuracy: False, incomplete or misleading claims can lead to rejection or termination. Check the form, declaration and attachments carefully before sending the combined file.
• Local jurisdiction: Any dispute connected with the advertisement or recruitment falls under the competent courts at Shimla.
