DGLL NA III and Electronics Technician Recruitment 2026: Overview

Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is recruiting a Navigational Assistant Grade III and Technician (Electronics) for its Jamnagar Directorate. These are regular technical roles supporting the systems that help vessels navigate safely along India's coast. The work is practical and field-oriented, so the notice suits diploma holders who are comfortable with electronics, communication equipment and operational sites rather than desk-only work.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Navigational Assistant Grade III: an operations-and-maintenance role covering electronic aids to navigation at lighthouse, DGNSS and NAVTEX stations controlled by the Jamnagar Directorate.
  • Technician (Electronics): a maintenance role focused on wireless transmitters, receivers, aerial systems and their associated power equipment. Experience with microwave equipment is useful for this stream.

Post-wise Duties

Navigational Assistant Grade III

You will help operate and maintain lighthouse and marine-navigation systems, watch equipment performance and record faults or service activity. Your work may take you to coastal stations where dependable signals and accurate checks are essential for safe navigation.

You will also support routine inspections, coordinate with technical colleagues and keep station records ready for review. Electronics and telecommunication knowledge will be used in a practical setting, including field troubleshooting and preventive upkeep.

Technician (Electronics)

You will install, test and maintain wireless transmitters, receivers, aerial systems and connected power units. The role involves tracing faults, replacing or repairing components and checking that restored equipment performs reliably.

You may also help with upgrades and scheduled servicing across stations managed by the Directorate. Hands-on experience with communication equipment matters because interruptions can affect a wider marine-safety network.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial control: the posts belong to the Jamnagar Directorate, which manages lighthouse and navigation installations in its coastal jurisdiction.
  • Transfer liability: technical staff may be posted at operational stations and can be transferred anywhere in India according to DGLL requirements.
  • Field environment: the work can involve coastal or remote stations, equipment rooms and station visits rather than a fixed office routine.
  • Trade assessment: candidates who clear the written paper may have to show practical competence in a qualifying trade test.
  • Recruitment caution: DGLL does not authorise agents or private centres to secure selection; merit in the official process is what counts.

Application Submission Notes

Send the prescribed application to The Director, Directorate of Lighthouses and Lightships, Deep Bhavan, P. N. Marg, Jamnagar 361008, Gujarat. Use a secure postal service and write the chosen post clearly on the envelope. Postal delay is the applicant's responsibility, so allow enough delivery time and keep proof of dispatch.

Attach clear self-attested evidence for the qualification, experience and category you claim. Technician applicants should support their electronics-maintenance experience with properly dated certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and check lighthouse and marine aids-to-navigation equipment
  • Maintain electronic transmitters, receivers, aerial systems, and related power units
  • Trace equipment faults and carry out approved repairs or component replacements
  • Record inspections, breakdowns, service work, and restored-system performance
  • Support installation, testing, and upgrades at coastal navigation stations
  • Follow electrical safety, equipment-handling, and station operating procedures
  • Report service risks and recurring faults to the supervising technical officer
