CMET Optical Quantum Multi Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET), a scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is building a project team in Pune and Hyderabad. The work supports Organic and Inorganic Materials based Optical Quantum Technology (OIMO-QT), a project focused on scaling up technology and developing its manufacturing supply chain in India. These are project-based appointments connecting materials research with electronic systems and prototype development.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Research Associate/Project Scientist: Based in Pune, this role belongs to the project's advanced research work across engineering and physical sciences.
  • Junior Research Fellow/Project Associate: Positions are located in Hyderabad and Pune, with work linked to electronics, radio-frequency systems, instrumentation and related areas.
  • Project Assistant: Based in Hyderabad, this role supports the project's technical and experimental activities.

Post-wise Duties

Research Associate/Project Scientist

You will contribute to materials, photonic and quantum-device research. The project's work includes characterising optical behaviour, improving processes and moving designs towards prototypes and technology demonstrations.

Junior Research Fellow/Project Associate

Your work will connect simulation and circuit development with practical system evaluation. The notice names multilayer printed circuit boards, radio-frequency and microwave systems, antennas, detector interfaces, timing systems and instrument control among the project activities.

Project Assistant

You will support experimental and prototype work in Hyderabad. The notice gives a shared description of project activities rather than a separate task allocation for assistants, so the precise assignment will depend on the team's work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial term: The appointment starts with a one-year term. It may be extended until the project ends, up to 5 August 2030.
  • JRF conversion: If NET/GATE-qualified applicants are unavailable, the JRF positions may become Project Associate positions. These are alternative appointments against the same openings.
  • Regular appointment: Completing a project appointment gives you no right to absorption into a regular post or to another contract after the project ends.
  • Interview travel: C-MET will not reimburse travel or daily expenses for attending the interview.
  • Communication: Write a clear email address and mobile number on your form. C-MET will use the email address for communication and publish shortlists and outcomes on its website.
  • Conduct: False declarations or hidden information can lead to cancellation or termination. Attempts to influence the decision can disqualify you.
  • Further updates: C-MET says amendments, extensions and other recruitment updates will appear on its website. Check that source while your application is being considered.

Application Submission Notes

Send the prescribed form by Speed Post only to The Centre Head, Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET), IDA Phase-III, HCL (PO), Cherlapally, Hyderabad-500051. This is the receiving address for the recruitment, including positions based in Pune.

Write “APPLICATION FOR ENGAGEMENT OF”, your position and HD/PN(H.Q.)/SP-102/2026 prominently at the top of the envelope. The notice uses receipt at C-MET as the deadline requirement, so allow time for delivery.

For clarification, contact the Administrative Officer on 040-27265587, 040-27267006 or 040-27261658. The stated enquiry hours are 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and study materials for optical quantum technologies.
  • Design multilayer printed circuit boards and electronic circuits.
  • Run simulations using tools such as KiCad, HFSS, ADS and CST.
  • Characterise photonic and quantum devices and their optical behaviour.
  • Evaluate radio-frequency, microwave and mixed-signal systems.
  • Build and test prototypes, detector interfaces and instrument-control systems.
  • Improve processes and support technology demonstrations.
