BHU Project Research Scientist I Pediatrics Recruitment 2026: Overview

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is recruiting a Project Research Scientist I (Medical) for its Department of Pediatrics at the Institute of Medical Sciences in Varanasi. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funds the study, which follows children with septic shock to examine biomarker changes, mortality prediction and macrophage activation-like syndrome. You would join a project-based appointment under Principal Investigator Prof. Sunil Kumar Rao.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project and appointment: The study has an approved duration of three years, while your initial appointment would be for one year. Annual renewal depends on performance, so the overall project period is not a guarantee of continuous employment for its full duration.
• End of engagement: The post is temporary and contractual, and ends with the project. Either side can terminate the appointment by giving one month of notice without needing to state a reason.
• Regular employment: Taking this assignment gives you no claim to a regular post or absorption in BHU, ICMR or the Government of India. Consider the position as an appointment tied to this particular study.
• Travel: You must meet your own travel and daily expenses for attending a test or interview. The project does not reimburse these costs.
