BDU Project Fellow Chemistry Recruitment 2026: Overview
Bharathidasan University (BDU) is recruiting a Project Fellow for its School of Chemistry in Tiruchirappalli through the Collaborative Research Scheme (CRS) of the University Grants Commission and Department of Atomic Energy Consortium for Scientific Research (UGC–DAE CSR). The project connects the university team with the consortium's research work in Indore.
Dr. V. Thiagarajan leads the university's contribution, with Dr. Praveen Kumar Velpula as principal collaborator at UGC–DAE CSR. The project studies ultrafast kinetics in multifunctional fluorophores showing dual and triple emission, with PET, ICT and ESIPT pathways and their applications forming its research focus.
Posts and Disciplines
- CRS Project Fellow (Junior)-I: This is one fellowship level listed for the Chemistry project. The research setting brings together photonics, fluorophores and ultrafast kinetics within the same collaborative study.
- CRS Project Fellow (Junior)-II: The notice lists this level alongside Junior-I under the same project. It does not describe a separate department, independent research topic or different set of day-to-day duties for this level.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project appointment: You would join a temporary research engagement linked to the advertised study. The position ends with the project, so you should consider the project term when planning your research commitments.
- Annual renewal: Continuation depends on satisfactory performance and renewal each year. The notice sets a maximum engagement of three years; that limit does not make the full period an automatic appointment.
- Collaborative work: The university is the application contact and research base, while the notice also identifies project experiments at UGC–DAE CSR, Indore. The collaboration therefore involves work beyond the Tiruchirappalli campus.
- Travel and stay: The project prefers applicants willing to travel to Indore and stay there for research experiments. Keep this practical commitment in mind if you are considering how the fellowship would fit your circumstances.
- Attendance expenses: The university will not pay travelling or daily allowance for attending the recruitment assessment. You should plan to cover those costs yourself if called.
- Accurate information: The application declaration covers the truth and completeness of the information you provide. Discrepancies can lead the university to cancel your application or selection.
Application Submission Notes
The notice includes its own Project Fellow application form. Completed applications should reach Dr. V. Thiagarajan, UGC Assistant Professor, School of Chemistry, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli – 620 024.
The listed email contacts are vthiags@gmail.com and v.thiagarajan@bdu.ac.in. The notice gives a postal destination for completed applications and does not explicitly say that emailing alone completes your application; use the named contact if you need clarification about delivery.
