Amritsar Court Counsellor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Office of District and Sessions Judge, Amritsar is forming a panel of Counsellors for the Family Courts counselling centre. This is not a conventional desk post: you will work with families involved in court disputes and help the Family Court understand whether counselling can reduce conflict or support reconciliation. The role suits experienced social-work, welfare, psychology or legal professionals who can handle sensitive conversations with care.

The engagement is per sitting rather than a regular salaried appointment. A counsellor's report can guide the Family Court at an appropriate stage of a case, and successful reconciliation carries a separate case-based payment under the applicable rules. Professional neutrality, confidentiality and patient communication are central to the work, especially where disputes concern women, children and wider family welfare.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Panel tenure: The panel normally runs for three years or for another period directed by the High Court.
  • Nature of engagement: This is a per-sitting empanelment, not a guaranteed full-time posting or fixed monthly appointment.
  • Continuation: A counsellor's name may be removed from the panel before the term ends, without prior notice.
  • Case treatment: Connected disputes involving the same parties are treated as one case for payment purposes.
  • Changing requirement: The court may increase or reduce the panel requirement before completing the process and may amend or cancel the notice through due procedure.
  • Interview attendance: You must bring your original testimonials, and no travel or daily allowance is paid for attending the interview.
  • Updates: Interview and empanelment announcements appear on the Amritsar Sessions Division recruitment page; separate letters are not promised.

Your application can be rejected if the claimed qualification or experience is not supported by the records. Meeting the basic conditions does not itself guarantee empanelment, because the competent authority makes the final choice after considering the applicant's suitability for Family Court counselling.

Application Submission Notes

Use the prescribed form attached to the public notice and send it with attested proof of qualification, date of birth and relevant experience. The completed set must reach Office of the District and Sessions Judge, District Court Complex, Ajnala Road, Amritsar by the stated closing time.

You may deliver the form by post or another offline method accepted by the office, but postal delay and wrong delivery remain your responsibility. Incomplete or late forms are not considered, so arrange delivery with enough time for the court office to receive the papers.
