This recruitment is part of the UPSSSC Main Examination (PRA0A0P0-2025)/11. Only candidates who have appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 can apply — the PET-2025 score card is mandatory. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • Mandatory: Graduation (Bachelor's degree) from any recognised university. Non-departmental staff category candidates can apply with Intermediate (12th pass).
  • Mandatory: Valid UPSSSC PET-2025 score card — you must have appeared in and qualified UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test 2025.

Desirable Qualification (Preference given if other conditions are equal)

  • Served in the Territorial Army for at least 2 years, OR
  • Holds NCC 'B' Certificate (National Cadet Corps), OR
  • Has worked in the Home Guards organisation continuously for 3 years.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years (as on 1 January 2026)
  • SC/ST candidates: Maximum age is 45 years (5 years relaxation)
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of UP: 5 years relaxation as per state rules
  • Home Guards unpaid members with minimum 3 years of service: Maximum age is 42 years (2 years relaxation)
  • State Government employees: Age relaxation of 5 years as per rules

Salary

  • Block Organizer: Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 per month (Pay Level-5, 7th Pay Commission)
  • Platoon Commander: Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month (Pay Level-6, 7th Pay Commission)
  • Plus DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates

  • General / OBC / SC: Height — minimum 167.7 cm; Chest (unexpanded) — 78.8 cm; Chest (expanded) — 83.8 cm
  • Hilly area candidates: Height — 162.6 cm; Chest (unexpanded) — 76.5 cm; Chest (expanded) — 81.5 cm
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): Height — 160 cm; Chest (unexpanded) — 76.5 cm; Chest (expanded) — 81.5 cm

For Female Candidates

  • General / OBC / SC: Height — minimum 152 cm
  • Hilly area and ST candidates: Height — minimum 147 cm

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

  • Male candidates: 4.8 km run to be completed within 25 minutes
  • Female candidates: 2.4 km run to be completed within 14 minutes

The Physical Standard Test and PET are qualifying in nature. Final merit is based on the Written Examination marks only.

  • All categories (General, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, PH): Rs. 25 (online processing fee only; application fee is NIL)

Selection Process

Selection for these posts is done in the following stages:

  1. Shortlisting based on PET-2025 Score: Only candidates who appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 are eligible. You are shortlisted based on your normalised PET-2025 score for the Main Written Examination.
  2. Main Written Examination (Objective, MCQ): 100 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours. Each question carries 1 mark. Negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer. The exam covers GK, Computer Knowledge, and UP General Knowledge.
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST): Qualifying stage. Your height and chest measurements are checked as per standards above.
  4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Qualifying stage. Running test (4.8 km for males in 25 mins; 2.4 km for females in 14 mins). If you fail the running test, you are not eligible for selection.
  5. Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted after the written exam and PET/PST will be called for document verification.

Final merit list is prepared based on Written Examination marks. PST and PET are qualifying in nature only.

  2. Log in using your PET-2025 Registration Number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a platoon of Home Guard volunteers during deployment and drills
  • Coordinate with local police and administration during law and order situations
  • Organise Home Guard activities at the block level under the Home Guards Headquarters
  • Maintain records, attendance, and deployment registers for Home Guard personnel
  • Assist in disaster relief operations, crowd management, and VIP security arrangements
  • Conduct training sessions and physical fitness drills for Home Guard volunteers
  • Prepare reports and submit them to the district and headquarters as required
  • Enforce rules and discipline among Home Guard members in the assigned area

Exam Pattern
