UPSSSC is hiring 58 Assistant Teachers for the Directorate of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Teacher Cadre) in Uttar Pradesh. This is the Main Examination (Advt. No. 03-Exam/2026) under the PET-2025 cycle, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow. The recruitment is for teaching posts in special schools across UP — for students who are deaf, blind, low-vision, physically disabled, or mentally disabled. Who Can Apply?

You must have appeared in UPSSSC PET 2025 with a valid score card. Plus, you need the post-specific qualifications below.

For Sign Mute & Deaf School Teacher

  • Intermediate (12th) pass from UP Board or equivalent
  • Diploma in Special Education (Hearing Impairment) from an RCI-recognised institute
  • Ability to read and write Hindi/English in Sign Language
  • RCI registration as a special teacher

For Music Teacher (Visually Impaired)

  • Intermediate with Music as a subject
  • Diploma in Special Education (Visual Impairment) from RCI-recognised institute
  • Ability to read and write Hindi/English in Braille
  • RCI registration as a special teacher

For Touch-Vision & Physical Disability Teachers

  • Intermediate from UP Board or equivalent
  • Diploma in Special Education in the relevant disability area from RCI-recognised institute
  • Braille reading/writing required for vision-impaired posts
  • RCI registration as a special teacher

For Mentally Disabled School Teachers

  • Intermediate pass
  • Diploma in Special Education (Mental Retardation/Intellectual Disability) from RCI
  • RCI registration

You must also be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh to claim category-based reservation.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Maximum age: 40 years
  • Age is calculated as on 1 July of the recruitment year

Selection Process

  1. Stage 1 — Written Examination: Objective MCQ paper of 100 questions / 100 marks / 120 minutes. Negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer. Subjects covered: Disability Concepts (25 marks), Child Development & Learning (20 marks), Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 (20 marks), Computer & IT Knowledge (15 marks), and UP General Knowledge (20 marks).
  2. Stage 2 — Sign Language / Braille Proficiency Test: Qualifying-only test for posts that need this skill. Sign language candidates get 8 minutes for text-to-sign and sign-to-text conversion (need 10 functional words right). Braille candidates get 10 minutes per task (need 60 words for writing, 40 words for reading correct).
  3. Document Verification & Final Merit List: Final selection based on Stage 1 marks, with Stage 2 only as a qualifying gate.

Responsibilities

  • Teach students with disabilities in special government schools across Uttar Pradesh
  • Use sign language, Braille, or other adapted methods based on student needs
  • Prepare lesson plans following the RCI-prescribed special education curriculum
  • Assess each student's learning progress and report to parents and school authorities
  • Manage classroom behaviour using techniques suited for children with disabilities
  • Work with parents, therapists, and school counsellors as part of an inclusion team
  • Maintain student records, attendance registers, and academic progress reports
  • Follow UP Govt teaching norms and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Intermediate (12th) pass plus Diploma in Special Education in the relevant disability area from RCI-recognised institute, with RCI registration as a special teacher

Preferred Qualification

Territorial Army service of 2+ years OR National Cadet Corps 'B' Certificate

Required Skills

Sign Language proficiency (for deaf schools); Braille reading/writing (for visually impaired schools); RCI Registration; Knowledge of special education methods

Exam Pattern

The written exam has 100 questions for 100 marks in 120 minutes (2 hours). All questions are objective MCQs. There is negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer.

  • Part 1 — Subject Knowledge (65 marks): Introduction to Disability (25 Qs), Child Development & Learning (20 Qs), Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 (20 Qs)
  • Part 2 — Computer & IT (15 marks): Hardware/software, internet, MS Word, MS Excel, AI, cyber security
  • Part 3 — UP General Knowledge (20 marks): UP history, culture, geography, festivals, economy, current affairs

If you qualify, you will appear for Stage 2 — Sign Language or Braille proficiency test (qualifying only, 8-10 minutes per task). Final merit is based on Stage 1 written marks only.
