The High Court of Tripura is hiring 5 Junior Grade Translators on a regular basis in its establishment at Agartala. The High Court of Tripura, Agartala has released Advertisement No. HC-01/2026 dated 11 May 2026 (Notification No. F.4 (22)-HC/2026/11852) for filling up 5 vacant posts of Junior Grade Translator. The reservation breakdown is 2 UR, 2 ST, and 1 SC. Due weightage will be given to Law Graduates. Educational Qualification
- Master's Degree from a recognised University in any official language of the State of Tripura (Bengali / Kokborok) with proficiency in English, OR
- Master's Degree in English from a recognised University with proficiency in any official language of the State of Tripura
Technical Qualification
- Proficiency in the use of computer is necessary
Preferred
- Due weightage will be given to Law Graduates (LLB)
Other Conditions
- You must be a citizen of India
- You must not have been dismissed from service by the Government, Central Government, High Court, statutory or local authority
- You must not have been convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude
- You must not have more than one spouse living
- You must not directly or indirectly try to influence the recruiting authority by any means

Salary

- This is a regular pensionable post in the establishment of the High Court of Tripura.

Selection Process
The selection is conducted in two phases:
- Phase 1 - Written Test (100 marks, 3 hours): Two subject components — General English (75 marks) covering English Comprehension, Précis Writing, Paragraph Writing, Letter Writing, Translation from Bengali to English and vice versa, and Writing Ability; plus General Knowledge, Aptitude, Reasoning, and Basic Computer Knowledge (25 marks). Minimum qualifying marks are 60% (relaxable by 10% for reserved category candidates).
- Shortlisting for Viva Voce: Shortlisting ratio is 1:3 — about 3 candidates per advertised post will be called for Viva Voce, as far as practicable.
- Phase 2 - Viva Voce / Interview (25 marks): Minimum qualifying marks shall be 30%.
- Document Verification: Candidates eligible for Written Test will be asked for scrutiny of original mark-sheets, certificates and documents before appearing in the Written Test.

Responsibilities
- Translate legal documents, judgments, orders, and notifications from Bengali/Kokborok to English and vice versa
- Prepare précis, paragraphs, and summaries of court proceedings as required
- Assist judges and registry staff with language-related work in court hearings
- Maintain accuracy in translation of judicial terminology and legal language
- Use computer applications for typing and formatting translated documents
- Verify and proof-read translations before final submission
- Coordinate with the Registrar General's office on assigned translation tasks
- Maintain confidentiality of judicial documents and adhere to High Court protocols
