Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has announced a walk-in interview for one Project Associate-I post under a self-financing scheme titled "Sale of Frozen Semen Straws at Frozen Semen Bank." The position is based in the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics at VCRI, Namakkal. This is a purely temporary post that continues only till the scheme runs, making it a good fit for science graduates who want hands-on lab and animal-handling experience in a government university setup. The frozen semen bank supplies quality semen straws used in artificial insemination programs, so the work you do here directly supports livestock breeding in the region.

Because the post is project-based and self-financed, it comes with a few important conditions you should know before applying. The appointment can be terminated without prior notice, and the selected candidate cannot claim regular university service on the basis of this engagement. If you are comfortable with a short-term, hands-on research role rather than a permanent government job, this position gives you valuable exposure to reproductive biology and animal husbandry work at a recognised veterinary institute.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry.
  • Language: You must be able to speak, read, and write Tamil, since the role involves daily coordination with local farm staff.
  • Practical Skills: You should be comfortable handling bulls and bucks, as the job is centred on animal management and semen collection.
  • Merit Factors: Prior work experience, published scientific or popular papers, and training/seminar participation will all count towards your merit score.

When you fill in the application form, you will need to provide details such as your date of birth, gender, community, nationality, father's name, native district, communication address, mobile number and email ID, along with your educational qualification with marks/OGPA, work experience, papers published, training attended, awards, and your present employment status. Keep these details ready before you start filling the form.

Salary

  • You will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 25,000 per month plus HRA if you do not hold a NET qualification.
  • You will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 31,000 per month plus HRA if you are NET qualified.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for candidates attending the interview — you need to arrange your own travel and stay.

Selection Process (Walk-in Interview, No Written Exam)

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Application Screening: Send your filled application with supporting documents by post or email before the cut-off date.
  2. Walk-in Interview: Attend the interview on 22 July 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, VCRI, Namakkal.
  3. Document Verification: Carry your original degree certificate, proof of age, experience certificates, published papers, and other testimonials for on-the-spot verification.
  4. Merit-Based Selection: Final selection is purely on merit — simply applying does not guarantee you an interview call or selection.

Once selected, you should be ready for a demanding but interesting routine. On semen collection days (Tuesday and Friday), work starts as early as 6:00 AM, while on other working days routine activities begin at 8:00 AM. You will also need to be available for emergency situations at the semen bank, including at night, since animal health issues do not always happen during office hours.
