Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has invited applications for one Field Assistant post at its Veterinary University Training and Research Centre, Vellore, under a Government of Tamil Nadu, Directorate of Tribal Welfare funded project titled "Enhancing the livelihood of tribal farmers through livestock farming in Ranipet district of Tamil Nadu" (GOAT). The post is purely contractual for one year, and preference will be given to Scheduled Tribe candidates. If you are a graduate with an interest in rural livelihood and livestock development work, this is a good entry point into government-funded field research.

The project, known by its acronym GOAT, is funded by the Government of Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Tribal Welfare and focuses on improving livestock-based incomes for tribal households in Ranipet district. As a Field Assistant, you will spend time visiting project villages, coordinating with tribal farmer households, and supporting the project team with day-to-day fieldwork and basic reporting using MS Office. Note: the position is purely contractual, and you cannot claim regular appointment at this institute based on this role.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Any undergraduate degree in any subject
• Preferred Skills: Computer knowledge in handling MS Office, driving skills, and experience in rural livelihood projects
• Preference will be given to Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
• Preferred experience in rural livelihood projects could include work with NGOs, government schemes, or livestock/agriculture extension programs in rural or tribal areas.
• You should be comfortable traveling within Ranipet district and working in rural, field-based settings.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on the date of interview (11 August 2026).
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 25,000 per month for the one-year contract period.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on:

1. Walk-In Interview: Only candidates who meet the essential qualifications will be interviewed. Reporting time is 9:30 AM, and document verification closes at 11:00 AM.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Currently employed candidates must bring an NOC from their present employer. You must also compulsorily submit a signed declaration form (in the prescribed format) on the day of the interview, confirming that all the details in your application are true and correct.
