The Office of the Assistant Director of Horticulture, District Sukma (Chhattisgarh), has invited applications for 6 Rural Horticulture Extension Officer posts to expand horticulture activities and implement departmental and central government schemes in rural Sukma. These are one-year contractual engagements under the DMF (District Mineral Foundation) fund, and the term may be extended based on departmental need and your work performance. Terms of this engagement that you should know before applying:

  • You get 18 days of casual leave and 3 days of optional leave per calendar year, counted proportionally if you join mid-year.
  • No leave is allowed in your first 6 months, except as permitted under general administration department rules (up to 90 days).
  • Either you or the department can end the engagement with one month's notice, or one month's honorarium in lieu of notice.
  • There is no pension, gratuity, or other retirement benefit once your service period ends — this is a contractual role, not a permanent government job.
  • Once selected, you must stay at your posting location for the duration of the engagement.
  • A waitlist from this recruitment stays valid for 1 year and may be used to fill any future vacancies in these posts.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have a graduate degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Agricultural Engineering.
  • Experience: Work experience with government or semi-government institutions earns you extra marks (1 mark per year, up to 5 marks). Private-sector experience is not counted for these marks.
  • Domicile preference: If two candidates score equally, preference goes first to Sukma district applicants, then to Bastar division applicants, then to other Chhattisgarh state applicants.
  • NOC required: If you already work in a government, semi-government, or private institution, you must attach a No Objection Certificate from your employer, or your application will not be considered.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on 1 January 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC) get age relaxation as per applicable government rules.

Salary

  • Selected candidates get a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs. 26,490 (Pay Matrix Level-7 equivalent), paid as a lump sum under the DMF scheme.
  • No other allowances or facilities are payable apart from this monthly honorarium.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on merit and an interview — there is no written exam:

  1. Merit Calculation: 80% weight is given to your academic qualification percentage, plus up to 5 marks for experience (1 mark per year of government/semi-government work).
  2. Shortlisting for Interview: Up to 6 to 8 times the number of vacancies per post are shortlisted for interview based on merit.
  3. Interview: Carries 15 marks.
  4. Final Merit List: Prepared by adding your academic marks, experience marks, and interview marks together.
  5. Medical Fitness & Joining: Selected candidates must submit a fitness certificate from the District Medical Board and join within one week of the appointment order.

Responsibilities

  • Visit villages in the assigned area to promote horticulture farming practices
  • Implement departmental and central government horticulture schemes at the ground level
  • Guide farmers on fruit, vegetable, and plantation crop cultivation techniques
  • Maintain records of scheme beneficiaries and horticulture activities
  • Submit monthly progress reports to the controlling officer
  • Coordinate with district administration on horticulture area expansion targets
  • Conduct farmer awareness and training programs in rural areas
  • Assist in monitoring and verifying scheme implementation on the field
