The Secretariat Security Force (SSF), under the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), Ministry of Home Affairs, is hiring 10 Constables in two trades — Barber (3 posts) and Washerman (7 posts). These are Group 'C' Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial posts on a temporary basis, likely to become permanent. Your salary will be in Pay Level 2 (Rs. 19,900-63,200) under the 7th CPC. Selection Process
The selection has 4 phases:
- Phase I — Physical Efficiency Test (PET): This is qualifying only (no marks). You need to clear:
- 1.6 km race in 7 minutes 30 seconds
- Long Jump: 11 feet (3 chances)
- High Jump: 3.5 feet (3 chances)
- Phase I — Physical Standard Test (PST): Height, chest, and weight measurements after PET
- Phase II — Written Examination (50 marks): Objective type MCQs, OMR/CBT format, 1 hour duration. No negative marking.
- General Awareness/GK: 15 questions, 15 marks
- Elementary Mathematics: 10 questions, 10 marks
- Analytical Aptitude: 15 questions, 15 marks
- English/Hindi: 10 questions, 10 marks
- Phase III — Trade Test (50 marks, qualifying): Practical trade-specific test. Qualifying marks: 50%. For Barber: hair cutting (20), body/head massage (15), tools knowledge (15). For Washerman: washing (15), ironing (10), dry-cleaning knowledge (10), detergents knowledge (15).
- Phase IV — Document Verification & Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

- Provide professional barber services or laundry services to SSF/ITBP personnel as per your trade posting
- Handle and maintain all tools, machines, and equipment used in the trade work
- Follow standard hygiene and safety procedures while performing trade duties
- Keep the work area clean, organised, and ready for use at all times
- Manage stock of supplies like detergents, soaps, oils, and other trade materials
- Assist in any other duties assigned by senior officers during routine or special occasions
- Follow all rules and regulations under Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules

Exam Pattern
The written exam carries 50 marks with 50 objective-type MCQs. You get 1 hour to complete it. The exam can be OMR-based or Computer Based Test (CBT). There is no negative marking.
Subject-wise Breakdown
- General Awareness / General Knowledge: 15 questions, 15 marks
- Elementary Mathematics: 10 questions, 10 marks
- Analytical Aptitude (observe and distinguish patterns): 15 questions, 15 marks
- English/Hindi: 10 questions, 10 marks (you can choose either language)
Cut-off marks: UR & Ex-Servicemen — 18 marks; SC & OBC — 17 marks.
After the written exam, candidates (up to 10 times the category-wise vacancies) will be called for a Trade Test (50 marks). The trade test is qualifying in nature with a 50% qualifying threshold.
