SSC's Selection Posts examination is the umbrella recruitment for hundreds of central government posts that don't fit into Tier-I exams like CGL or CHSL. Educational Qualification
- Matriculation level posts: 10th pass from a recognised board.
- Higher Secondary level posts: 12th (10+2) pass from a recognised board.
- Graduation & above level posts: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
- Specific posts may require additional technical qualifications, experience, or language proficiency — check Annexure-III for the post category you are applying for.
- Crucial date for possessing essential qualifications is 04 May 2026.
Nationality
- You must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, a subject of Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin from listed countries with intention of permanently settling in India.
Age Limit
- Crucial date for age: 01 January 2026.
- Age limits vary by post — common slabs include 18-25, 18-27, 18-28, 18-30, 18-35, 20-25, 20-30, 21-27, 21-28, 22-28, and 23-28 years.

Salary

- 10+2 level posts typically fall under Pay Level 4-5.
- Graduation level posts can go up to Pay Level 7-8.
- Plus DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances admissible under central government rules.
Application Fee
- General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 100 per post category.
- Women / SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen: No fee (exempted).
- You must pay the fee separately for each post category you apply for.
- Fee can be paid online only — through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay credit/debit card.
- Last date for online fee payment: 05 May 2026 by 23:00 hours.
- Fee once paid is not refundable under any circumstances.
Selection Process
- Computer Based Examination (CBE) — separate CBEs for Matriculation, 10+2, and Graduation level posts.
- Skill Test / Typing Test / Computer Proficiency Test — qualifying in nature, only where prescribed in the post details.
- Document Upload on portal by candidates who qualify the CBE.
- Document Verification (DV) by the User Department concerned.
The exam is held in multiple shifts with normalisation of marks. Tentative answer keys are released after the exam — you can challenge each question by paying Rs. 50 per question.
How to Apply
- Visit the official SSC website ssc.gov.in or use the mySSC mobile app.
- Generate a fresh One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website if you haven't already; old OTRs from ssc.nic.in will not work.
- Opt for Aadhaar Based Authentication to avoid photograph rejection issues.
- Fill the application form, capture your real-time photograph through the application module, and upload signature in JPEG/JPG (10-20 KB).
- Apply separately for each post category and pay Rs. 100 per category online.
- Submit the application by 04 May 2026 (23:00 hours) and pay the fee by 05 May 2026 (23:00 hours).
- You can correct mistakes during the Application Form Correction Window from 11 May 2026 to 13 May 2026 — first correction costs Rs. 200, second costs Rs. 500.

Exam Pattern
The Computer Based Examination is held separately for each level (Matriculation, Higher Secondary, Graduation). The exam is Objective Type Multiple Choice in Hindi and English.
- Part A — General Intelligence: 25 questions, 50 marks
- Part B — General Awareness: 25 questions, 50 marks
- Part C — Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill): 25 questions, 50 marks
- Part D — English Language (Basic Knowledge): 25 questions, 50 marks
Total: 100 questions for 200 marks in 60 minutes (with sectional timer of 15 minutes per part). Scribe-eligible candidates get 80 minutes (20 minutes per part). Negative marking of 0.50 marks applies for each wrong answer. Marks are normalised when the exam is held in multiple shifts. Skill / Typing / Computer Proficiency Tests are qualifying in nature where prescribed.
