Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have a Bachelor's degree in Library Science (B.Lib.Sc) or an equivalent degree from a recognised institution.
  • Domicile: You must be a citizen of India and a domicile of the State of Odisha.
  • Language: You must be able to speak, read and write Odia and must have studied Odia as a language subject in HSC or passed an equivalent test (Middle School Standard).
  • Government servants must inform their head of office and produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before document verification.

Age Limit

  • You must be between 21 and 42 years as on 01 January 2026 (born between 01-01-1984 and 01-01-2005).
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC, Women, and Ex-Servicemen candidates.
  • PwBD (40% or more disability): 10 years relaxation.
  • PwBD + SEBC/SC/ST: Cumulative 15 years relaxation.
  • Only one category of relaxation will be considered (whichever is most beneficial).

Salary

  • Pay Scale: Group B, Level 9 as per Odisha Revised Scales of Pay Rules, 2017
  • You will get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Government of Odisha rules.
  • Note: All persons appointed shall be covered under the Contributory Pension Scheme (Odisha Civil Service (Pension) Amendment Rules, 2005).

Selection Process

Selection is based solely on a written test:

  1. Written Examination (OMR-based): 100 MCQs for 150 marks in 2 hours. Each correct answer carries 1.5 marks; 0.5 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original certificates.

Qualifying marks: 40% for UR category and 30% for SC/ST/SEBC/PwBD candidates.

Tie-breaking: If two candidates have equal marks, the candidate with a higher Graduation percentage gets preference. If still tied, the older candidate (by date of birth) is selected.

Exam Zones: Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Jeypore, and Sambalpur.

  • Manage the college library, including acquisition, classification, and cataloguing of books
  • Maintain library records, registers, and digital catalogues
  • Help students and faculty find books, journals, and reference materials
  • Issue and return books, track overdue materials, and follow up on lost items
  • Supervise library staff and assistants in day-to-day operations
  • Organise reading sessions, book exhibitions, and library awareness programs
  • Prepare annual library budgets and reports for college administration
  • Ensure proper care and preservation of library collections
