Shree Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya (SJSV), Puri has released a short notice (Estt. No. 960/2026, dated 06.05.2026) inviting online applications from eligible Indian citizens for appointment to Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor posts against sanctioned positions across various Post-Graduate Departments. The recruitment covers 8 traditional Sanskrit disciplines including Advaita Vedanta, Dharmashastra, Jyotirvigyan, Nyaya, Sahitya, Sarvadarshan, Veda, and Vyakarana. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must meet the minimum qualifications and eligibility criteria laid down under UGC Regulations / Notifications, 2018, as amended from time to time. For Sanskrit Professor posts, this normally requires a Master's degree in the relevant Sanskrit discipline with at least 55% marks and a Ph.D. degree from a recognised university.
• For Assistant Professor: Master's in the relevant Sanskrit subject (Advaita Vedanta / Dharmashastra / Vyakarana etc.) with 55% marks plus NET / SLET / SET, or a Ph.D. awarded as per UGC 2009/2016/2018 rules.
• For Associate Professor: Ph.D. with Master's degree (55% marks) and minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience in a UGC-recognised institution, with required research publications.
• For Professor: Ph.D. with eminent academic record, minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience, and required research publications and citations.
• Service Conditions: Will be as per UGC Regulations 2018 and University statutes.

Age Limit

• No specific upper age limit is mentioned in the short notice for Professor/Associate/Assistant Professor posts.

Salary

• Assistant Professor: Pay Level 10 (entry pay Rs. 57,700 per month) under 7th CPC.

• Professor: Pay Level 14 (entry pay Rs. 1,44,200 per month) under 7th CPC.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Government of Odisha / UGC rules.

Selection Process

Selection will be done through:

1. Screening of Online Applications as per UGC 2018 criteria.
2. Academic Score / API Evaluation for shortlisting.
3. Interview before the duly constituted Selection Committee.
4. Document Verification at the time of interview.

• Evaluate student assignments, term papers, dissertations and examinations
• Conduct original research and publish papers in peer-reviewed Sanskrit and Indological journals
• Participate in seminars, conferences and workshops organised by the University
• Serve on departmental, faculty and University committees as required
• Mentor students on academic, professional and cultural aspects of Sanskrit studies
