Odisha State Open University, a Government of Odisha state university located at Badsinghari, Goshala Chowk, Sambalpur, has released advertisement dated 05.05.2026 for filling up 23 regular Assistant Professor posts across the departments of BBA, Commerce, Cyber Security, Economics, English, History, Odia and Political Science. This advertisement supersedes all previous advertisements issued in this regard. The selection is based on academic score and interview — there is no written exam.

Who Can Apply?

For BBA, Commerce, Economics, English, History, Odia and Political Science (Pay Level 10)

• Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an accredited foreign university
• SC/ST/Non-creamy OBC/Differently abled candidates get a 5% relaxation (50% marks needed at Master's)
• You must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR OR a similar test like SLET/SET accredited by UGC OR hold a Ph.D degree as per UGC Regulations 2009/2016
• Candidates registered for Ph.D before 11 July 2009 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET subject to fulfilling specific Ph.D conditions (regular mode, two external examiners, open viva, 2 research papers, 2 conference presentations)

For Cyber Security (Pay Level 10)

• Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology in Cyber Security, CSE, AI or Data Science OR MCA with NET OR Master of Computer Science with NET (with Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline)
• Minimum 55% marks (relaxable as per Govt. of Odisha rules) at the Master's level
• One of the degrees (Bachelor's or Master's) must be in first division

Alternative Foreign Ph.D Route (All Departments)

• Ph.D obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked in the top 500 in QS, Times Higher Education (THE), or ARWU (Shanghai) World University Rankings

NET/SET/SLET shall be the minimum criteria for direct recruitment as Assistant Professor as per UGC Notification dated 30 June 2023.

Age Limit

• No minimum age specified
• Maximum age: 60 years — candidates above 60 years are not eligible
• Age and eligibility will be considered as on the closing date of online application (15 June 2026)

Salary

• Pay Level 10 as per 7th CPC — entry pay Rs. 57,700 per month
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time
• Present superannuation age is 60 years

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Applications received by the due date will be screened in 3 stages:

1. Level 1 Scrutiny: Verification of NET/Ph.D/SET/SLET, date of birth, age, caste, PwD and sport credentials
2. Level 2 Scrutiny: Score check based on UGC Appendix II, Table 3A (for Assistant Professor)
3. Level 3 Scrutiny: Overall evaluation
4. Shortlisting: A maximum of 15 candidates for a single post (1:10 ratio for multiple posts) are called for interview
5. Interview (50 marks): Domain Knowledge (15) + Affective Domain (10) + Research Contributions (10) + Communication Skill (5) + Future Vision (5) + Emerging Technology in Teaching (5). Minimum 25 marks required to qualify
6. PPT Presentation: Candidates must bring an 8-slide PPT (Arial Black, 24pt) covering subject domain, practical skills, Vikshit Odisha/Bharat vision, AI in pedagogy, research projects, consultancy, collaborations and employability

3. Upload self-attested copies of documents, certificates and a photograph (JPEG, less than 200KB)

5. Submit the online application before 15 June 2026 (midnight) and take a printout
