Gangadhar Meher University, located at Amruta Vihar, Sambalpur in Odisha, has released advertisement number 2205/GMU dated 11.05.2026 for filling up 33 regular Assistant Professor posts (including backlog vacancies) across 16 departments. The selection is based on academic score and interview — there is no written exam. Freshers with NET/SET/Ph.D qualification can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Option A — UGC Route

• Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an accredited foreign university
• SC/ST/Non-creamy OBC/Differently abled candidates get a 5% relaxation (50% marks needed at Master's level)
• You must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR OR a similar test like SLET/SET accredited by UGC OR hold a Ph.D degree as per UGC Regulations 2009/2016
• Candidates registered for Ph.D before 11 July 2009 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET subject to fulfilling specific Ph.D conditions (regular mode, two external examiners, open viva, 2 research papers, 2 conference presentations)

Option B — Foreign Ph.D Route

• Ph.D obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked in the top 500 in QS, Times Higher Education (THE), or ARWU (Shanghai) World University Rankings

NET/SET/SLET shall be the minimum criteria for direct recruitment as Assistant Professor as per UGC Notification dated 30 June 2023.

Age Limit

• No minimum age specified
• Maximum age: 60 years — candidates above 60 years are not eligible
• Age and eligibility will be considered as on the closing date of online application (14 June 2026)

Salary

• Pay Level 10 as per 7th CPC — entry pay Rs. 57,700 per month
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time
• Present superannuation age is 60 years

• SC, ST and Women candidates: Rs. 600
• PwD candidates: No fee

• Candidates applying for more than one post must apply separately and pay the fee for each post

Selection Process

Selection is done as per UGC norms. The process involves:

1. Screening: Applications are screened based on the academic score specified in Appendix II (Table 3A) of UGC Regulation No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS) dated 18 July 2018 for universities
2. Shortlisting: Only the academic score will be used to shortlist candidates for interview
3. Interview: Final selection is based only on performance in the interview
4. Document Verification: Self-attested documents must be submitted with the application

The University reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for interview based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed.

3. Upload self-attested copies of documents, certificates and a photograph (JPEG, less than 200KB)

5. Submit the online application and take a printout
6. Send the hard copy of the application along with all supporting documents through Registered/Speed Post only to: The Registrar, Gangadhar Meher University, Amruta Vihar, Sambalpur, Odisha, PIN- 768001 so as to reach by 24 June 2026

In-service candidates must forward the hard copy through proper channel or attach a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
