SGMH Delhi Junior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital (SGMH), run by the Government of NCT of Delhi in Mangolpuri, is filling Junior Resident (MBBS) posts on an ad-hoc basis through a walk-in interview. The drive covers posts that are vacant now and posts likely to fall vacant soon, and the hospital says the count is provisional and may change without notice. It suits recent MBBS graduates who have finished their rotatory internship and have not yet completed a full year of residency anywhere.

The hospital prepares a selection list and a waiting list and fills the posts in phases as they fall vacant, so being on the waiting list still keeps you in the running.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Your first appointment runs for 89 days and can be extended up to one year in total, based on a good report from your head of department and your written request. Any earlier Junior Residency, ad-hoc or regular, counts towards this one-year limit.
• Fresh and relaxed lists: Doctors who have not completed one year of Junior Residency go on the fresh list, which is used first. Doctors who have already finished a year, and postgraduate doctors who want to work as Junior Residents, can be interviewed under relaxed criteria — that second list is used only after the fresh list runs out.
• Delhi Medical Council: You must be registered with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC), or have applied for registration, by the last date.
• Reservation: OBC seats are for Delhi OBC candidates only, and the hospital accepts only OBC certificates issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi. Reserved seats that stay unfilled can go to other categories on an ad-hoc basis, and 4% of the posts are reserved for persons with disabilities.
• Hostel: Staying in the hospital hostel is compulsory if a room is available, and you cannot leave it until your tenure ends, you resign or your service is terminated.
• No outside work: You sign an undertaking that you will not work at any government or private health facility during your tenure; breaking it can lead to termination.
• Uniform: A white apron is compulsory on duty, and working without proper uniform can also lead to strict action.
• Government employees: Bring an NOC from your current employer; on joining, submit the NOC and Last Pay Certificate from your previous employer where it applies.
• Governing rules: Your service follows the Government of India residency schemes, and appointment depends on medical fitness and certificate checks. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Application Submission Notes

Report to the 4th Floor Conference Hall, Administrative Block, SGM Hospital, Mangolpuri, Delhi 110083 for registration between 9 AM and 12 noon on the interview day — nobody is registered after 12 noon. Carry the filled application form with your photograph and the checklist (both formats come with the notice), plus originals and photocopies of your documents.
