RRC SCR has released notification for 2,801 Act Apprentice posts across 13 ITI trades in South Central Railway. Railway Recruitment Cell, South Central Railway (RRC SCR) has released a notification (No. SCR/P-HQ/RRC/111/Act. App/2025-26) dated 11 March 2026 to engage 2,801 Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for training at various railway workshops, depots, and divisions across its jurisdiction. The training covers 13 different ITI trades spread across 66 training establishments in departments like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, S&T Engineering, and Personnel. There is no written exam -- selection is purely based on merit from your 10th and ITI marks. ITI pass candidates from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh (specific districts only) can apply.

Who Can Apply?

  • Education: You must have passed 10th class (SSC/Matriculation) with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board.
  • ITI Certificate: You must hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from an institute recognized by NCVT or SCVT. The ITI qualification must be in one of the 13 notified trades.
  • Domicile: You must belong to the districts under South Central Railway jurisdiction -- Telangana (all districts), Andhra Pradesh (all except Manyam, Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram), Maharashtra (Akola, Amaravati, Aurangabad, Beed, Chandrapur, Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Nanded, Nasik, Parbhani, Washim & Yavatmal), Karnataka (Balki, Bellari, Belgam, Bidar, Gulbarga, Kalaburgi, Raichur & Yadgir), Tamil Nadu (Vellore), and Madhya Pradesh (Burhanpur & Khandwa).
  • RDAT Registration: You must register on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal at www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in before applying.
  • Not Eligible: Engineering graduates and diploma holders cannot apply under this notification. They are covered under a separate apprenticeship scheme.

Age Limit

  • You should be at least 15 years old and must not have completed 24 years as on 11 April 2026.
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (upper age limit becomes 29 years)
  • OBC-NCL: 3 years relaxation (upper age limit becomes 27 years)
  • PwBD: 10 years relaxation (upper age limit becomes 34 years)
  • Ex-Servicemen: Up to 10 years relaxation based on length of defence service

Stipend

  • Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of approximately Rs. 9,600 as per the revised rates under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules, 2025.
  • The stipend is paid during the entire apprenticeship training period as per Central Apprenticeship Council norms.
  • Note: This is a training position. No DA, HRA, or other allowances are provided. There is no guarantee of regular employment after training completion.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test or viva-voce for this recruitment. Selection is done in these stages:

  1. Merit List Preparation: Your merit will be calculated by taking the average of your percentage marks in 10th class (minimum 50% aggregate) and ITI examination. Both carry equal weightage.
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of all original certificates and documents.
  3. Medical Examination: You must produce a medical fitness certificate from a government-authorized doctor (Gazetted), not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central/State Hospital.

Tie-breaking rule: If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate gets preference. If dates of birth are also the same, the one who passed 10th class earlier will be selected.

How to Apply

  1. First, register on the NAPS portal at www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and get your RDAT registration number.
  2. Visit the South Central Railway website at www.scr.indianrailways.gov.in and go to About Us > RRC-SCR.
  3. Click on the "Online Act Apprentice Application" link.
  4. Read the notification carefully and click the registration link.
  5. Select your state and district, upload address proof, enter your mobile number and email ID, and create a password.
  6. Verify your mobile and email through OTP.
  7. Fill in your personal details, community, date of birth, qualifications, and educational details.
  8. Choose your preferred Railway Establishments for training (choose carefully -- no changes allowed after submission).
  9. Upload your photograph (JPEG, max 1 MB, not older than 3 months) and signature.
  10. Upload all required certificates (max 2 MB each in PDF format).
  11. Preview your application, verify all details, and click Submit.
  12. Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 online (if applicable).
  13. Take a printout of the submitted application for your records.

If you have two different ITI trade qualifications, you can submit a separate application for each trade.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and practise the assigned ITI trade under supervision at railway workshops, depots, and divisions
  • Follow the training curriculum prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Council
  • Assist skilled railway technicians in maintenance, repair, and operational tasks
  • Handle tools, equipment, and machinery relevant to your assigned trade safely
  • Maintain daily training logs and attendance records as required
  • Work in shifts and follow all railway safety rules and workshop guidelines
  • Prepare for and appear in trade tests and assessments during the training period

How Your Merit Score is Calculated

Your merit score is the average of two percentage marks:

  • 10th Class / Matriculation Marks: Your aggregate percentage in 10th (minimum 50% required)
  • ITI Examination Marks: Your percentage marks in the ITI trade examination

Formula: Merit Score = (10th Percentage + ITI Percentage) / 2

Both the 10th marks and ITI marks carry equal weightage (50:50).

Tie-Breaking Rules

  • If two candidates have the same merit score, the older candidate (by date of birth) gets preference.
  • If dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed 10th class earlier will be selected.

No written test, no viva-voce, no interview. Just make sure you scored well in your 10th and ITI exams.
