RGIPT JRF Plastic Recycling Recruitment 2026: Overview
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is engaging a Junior Research Fellow for an Institute Research Grant project at its Jais campus in Amethi. The Mechanical Engineering project, coded IRG-2607, is titled Sustainable Plastic Waste Recycling Technologies for High-Value Product Manufacturing. It brings recycling research and practical process development together within an Institute of National Importance.
The project looks beyond basic plastic disposal. Its research scope connects waste-plastic recycling, high-value product manufacturing, zero-waste systems and biogas production. That combination gives the fellow exposure to material characterisation, recycling routes and the testing needed to judge whether an integrated process works effectively.
This is a laboratory and process-development research role under Principal Investigator Dr. Naveen Mani Tripathi in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The notice points to design software, programming tools and analytical instruments that can support the project, making it relevant to candidates interested in both mechanical-process work and materials analysis. A valid NET or GATE score strengthens an application but is described as an advantage, not one of the two core degree routes. The combination of recycling equipment and analytical methods means the project spans both making recycled products and checking their material and fuel characteristics.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project duration: the Institute Research Grant project is planned for three years.
- Initial appointment: the first engagement is for six months and may be extended when your performance is satisfactory and the project continues.
- Project-linked status: the post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project; it does not become a regular RGIPT appointment.
- Institute rules: Institute Research Grant norms and RGIPT regulations govern the fellowship and engagement.
- Shortlist communication: only shortlisted candidates will receive information by email or phone.
- Interview travel: RGIPT will not pay TA or DA for appearing in the interview.
- Recruitment discretion: the institute may leave the position unfilled when it does not find a suitable person and may modify the selection process.
- PhD possibility: satisfactory performance may lead to consideration for RGIPT's PhD programme, but admission still depends on meeting the institute's eligibility and selection procedure.
