About This Job

Prasar Bharati (DD News) is hiring 5 people on contract — 4 Correspondents and 1 Senior Correspondent — at its Regional News Units (RNUs). Prasar Bharati, India's Public Service Broadcaster, has released a Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for 4 Correspondent posts and 1 Senior Correspondent post under DG: DD News. The Correspondent posts are at Imphal, Lucknow, Varanasi and Dehradun, and the Senior Correspondent post is at Chennai. All posts are on a full-time contract basis for one year. This is a great chance for experienced journalists and TV reporters who want to work with Doordarshan News.

Who Can Apply?

Correspondent (4 posts - Imphal, Lucknow, Varanasi, Dehradun)

  • Qualification: Degree or PG Diploma in Journalism / Mass Communication or a relevant field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the relevant field.
  • Language: Hindi and English with proficiency in the regional language for Imphal. For Lucknow, Varanasi and Dehradun, Hindi is needed and knowledge of English is desirable.

Senior Correspondent (1 post - Chennai)

  • Qualification: Degree or PG Diploma in Journalism / Mass Communication or a relevant field.
  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience in the relevant field.
  • Language: Bilingual in Hindi and English with proficiency in the respective regional language.

Age Limit

  • Correspondent: Below 40 years as on the date of notification (25 June 2026).
  • Senior Correspondent: Below 45 years as on the date of notification (25 June 2026).
  • Age, experience and education are counted up to the date of issue of this NIA (inclusive).

Salary

  • Correspondent: Consolidated Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 80,000 per month (negotiable).
  • Senior Correspondent: Consolidated Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1,25,000 per month (negotiable).
  • Pay may be negotiated based on your suitability. This is a contract role with no claim to regularization or pension.

Responsibilities

  • Report stories from the ground and supply them to the newsroom in a usable format
  • Host live segments, take interviews, and record tic-tacs for live and recorded programmes
  • Write, voice, and get news stories and programmes edited
  • Cover complex and varied stories across India and abroad, and plan coverage
  • Create content including hashtags for upload on social media
  • Track social, economic, and political developments in the state
  • Prepare voiced packages and handle newsroom-related work
  • Provide live inputs in Hindi and English as required
