OSPCB, under the Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Odisha, has released an advertisement for 5 posts to work on two OSPCB-funded Fly Ash Consortium research projects at its R&D Wing, Coastal Management Cell, Patia, Bhubaneswar. The projects are titled "Integrated Bio-stabilization of Heavy Metals in Fly Ash-Amended Soil" and "Biotransformation of Fly Ash into Safe Bio-fertilizer through Biological Heavy Metal Immobilization", each running for 2 years. These are temporary, project-based positions co-terminus with the project duration — a good option for Chemistry/Environmental Science graduates and postgraduates who want research experience. The engagement can run up to 2 years after selection or till the project ends, whichever comes first, and can be ended at any time without prior notice.

Who Can Apply?

For Junior Research Fellow (Rs. 27,000/month + HRA):

  • You need an M.Sc degree with minimum 60% marks in Chemistry or Environmental Science from a recognized University/Institute.
  • You should have good computer knowledge.

For Lab Technician and Field Assistant (Rs. 18,000/month):

  • You need a B.Sc degree with minimum 50% marks in Chemistry from a recognized University/Institute.

Age Limit

  • The upper age limit for all three posts is 28 years.
  • Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Women candidates.

Salary

  • Junior Research Fellow: Rs. 27,000 per month plus HRA (16%) as admissible.
  • Lab Technician and Field Assistant: Rs. 18,000 per month (consolidated).

Selection Process

Selection is done through an interview. There is no written exam for these posts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in fieldwork and lab experiments for the OSPCB fly ash bio-remediation research projects
  • Collect and test soil and fly ash samples for heavy metal content
  • Maintain lab equipment, chemicals and instruments used for testing
  • Record and compile experimental data and prepare project reports
  • Support the Principal Investigator in day-to-day project activities
  • Follow lab safety protocols during sample handling and testing
  • Coordinate field visits for sample collection at project sites

Minimum Qualification

M.Sc (min 60%) in Chemistry/Environmental Science for JRF; B.Sc (min 50%) in Chemistry for Lab Technician and Field Assistant
