National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), one of the primary centres of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under the Department of Space, has released Advt. No. NRSC/RMT/1/2026 for 48 Temporary Research Personnel posts across Research Scientist, Project Associate-I/II, Project Scientist-B/I, and Junior Research Fellow (JRF) categories. NRSC handles satellite data reception, remote sensing applications, and disaster management support for the country, and these posts will primarily work out of its Hyderabad and Shadnagar campuses, with some positions identified at RRSC-North (Delhi) and RRSC-South (Bengaluru). Engineering graduates, postgraduates in remote sensing/GIS/geoinformatics, and PhD-track researchers in disciplines like civil engineering, computer science, geology, physics, and atmospheric science are encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?
For Research Scientist (RS20-RS25):
- M.E./M.Tech in Civil Engineering, Remote Sensing & GIS, Geoinformatics, Data Science, or a related specialization along with a B.E./B.Tech in the relevant discipline, OR M.Sc/M.Sc Tech in Geology with a B.Sc in Geology
For Project Associate-I & II (PAI-06, PAII-02/03):
- B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or Geoinformatics; Project Associate-II additionally needs 2 years of R&D experience in industrial/academic institutions
For Project Scientist-B & I (PSB03-06, PSI-06):
- M.Sc/M.Sc Tech/M.Tech in Geology, Remote Sensing & GIS, Geoinformatics, or M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, depending on the post code
For Junior Research Fellow (JRF30-JRF35):
- Master's Degree in Physics, Atmospheric Science, Oceanography, Agriculture, Computer Science, or a related discipline as per the post code
- You must also qualify GATE/CSIR-UGC NET or an equivalent national-level test (conducted by DST, DBT, DAE, DRDO, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.) in the relevant subject
Common Eligibility Criteria:
- M.E./M.Tech: minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10
- M.Sc/M.Sc Tech and B.E./B.Tech: minimum 65% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA 6.84/10
- B.Sc: minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10
- Candidates who completed their degree through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not eligible.
Age Limit
- JRF and Research Scientist (M.Sc based): 28 years (UR/EWS), 31 years (OBC), 33 years (SC/ST)
- Research Scientist (M.Tech based): 30 years (UR/EWS), 33 years (OBC), 35 years (SC/ST)
- Project Associate-I/II, Project Scientist-I/B: 35 years (UR/EWS), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST)
- Age is counted as on 21 August 2026, the last date for online application.
- Age Relaxation: Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) get upper age relaxation as per Government of India rules.
Salary
- Research Scientist (RS20-RS25): Rs. 56,100 per month + HRA + DA
- Project Associate-I (PAI-06): Rs. 31,000 per month + HRA
- Project Associate-II (PAII-02/03): Rs. 35,000 per month + HRA
- Project Scientist-I (PSI-06): Rs. 56,000 per month + HRA
- Project Scientist-B (PSB03-06): Rs. 56,000 per month + HRA, with a 5% increment every 2 years after performance review
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF30-35): Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA, which can rise to Rs. 42,000 as SRF after 2 years
Application Fee
- All candidates: Rs. 250 per application (non-refundable at payment)
- Refund: Women, SC/ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen candidates get this fee refunded later, subject to meeting eligibility criteria and taking part in the selection process

Selection Process
The selection process has the following stages:
- Screening: NRSC screens all applications based on the eligibility criteria for each post; meeting the minimum qualification does not automatically get you an interview call.
- Interview: Only screened-in/shortlisted candidates are called for an interview, and communication is sent only through your registered email.
- Document Verification: You must produce all original certificates at the time of the interview.
- Medical Fitness: Selected candidates must be found medically fit before joining.
There is no written exam for these posts — selection is based on screening and interview only.

Responsibilities
- Carry out assigned research and development work under the relevant NRSC project
- Process and analyze satellite and remote sensing data using GIS and related tools
- Develop models, software, or geospatial products as required by the project
- Prepare technical reports and documentation of research findings
- Collaborate with project scientists and technical teams at NRSC
- Support field data collection and validation activities when required
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, datasets, and analysis results
- Present research progress during periodic project reviews
