NMDFC Senior Legal Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC), a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, is engaging a Senior Legal Consultant at its New Delhi headquarters. The assignment combines litigation management, recovery strategy, contract review and regulatory advice for a development-finance organisation that works with State Channelising Agencies, non-government organisations and other borrowing partners.

This is a senior hands-on legal role, not a general administrative consultancy. You will be expected to turn complex case files into clear histories, track court developments, brief management on exposure and recommend the next legal action. The work also connects NMDFC's internal records with the Legal Information Management and Briefing System used by the Ministry of Law and Justice.

A large part of the assignment concerns recovery and enforcement. You may review how a borrower or channelising agency entered litigation, assess outstanding claims, compare possible recovery routes and help management build a prioritised roadmap. That can involve civil recovery, guarantees, tribunals, secured-interest remedies, insolvency options and execution of existing decrees, depending on the facts of each matter.

The role also has a broad advisory and drafting brief. You will review agreements, guarantees, policies, tenders and service matters; prepare notices, pleadings, replies and written opinions; and coordinate with panel advocates, law firms and government counsel. You will need to follow changes in company, contract, arbitration, labour, service, vigilance and information laws that affect the corporation's work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: the engagement begins for one year and may be extended according to performance and NMDFC's requirement. It does not create a right to absorption or regular appointment.
  • Confidentiality: the consultant must protect office, legal, operational and security information during and after the assignment, including information covered by the Official Secrets Act.
  • Availability: the work may require attendance on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays when a legal matter needs it.
  • Leave: leave is available on a pro-rata basis within the annual limit set by NMDFC; excess absence reduces the monthly payment and unused leave cannot be carried forward.
  • Termination: false declarations or deliberate suppression of material facts can lead to immediate termination and further action.
  • Travel and facilities: the consultancy does not include residential accommodation, personal staff, medical reimbursement or routine transport facilities. Local conveyance follows the corporation's stated equivalence.
