NIT Rourkela is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (PhD) for a coastal flood research project in its Civil Engineering department. National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow for a Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES)-funded research project titled "Modelling the Combined Impact of Sea Level Rise, Land Subsidence and Tropical Cyclones on Compound Flooding of Coastal Areas in the Mahanadi River Delta". The engagement is purely temporary/contractual and co-terminus with the project, which runs till 30 June 2029. This is a strong opportunity for civil engineering graduates with a water resources specialization who want hands-on research experience in climate and flood modelling.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: First Class in Matriculation (10th) and +2 (12th), plus B.Tech/B.E in Civil Engineering (minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks) and M.E/M.Tech in Water Resources Engineering (minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks) from a recognized institute.
  • Relaxation: Reserved category candidates (PWD/SC/ST) get a relaxation of 0.5 CGPA or 5% marks at the +2 level.
  • Desirable: Experience in hydrological/hydrodynamic modelling, compound flood assessment, climate change impact analysis, GIS and remote sensing applications, and spatial data processing. GATE-qualified candidates will be given priority.

Salary

  • You will get Rs. 37,000 per month in Year 1 and Year 2 of the fellowship.
  • The salary increases to Rs. 42,000 per month in Year 3.
