Who Can Apply?

Since all posts are on deputation basis, only currently serving government employees can be considered. Your parent department (Head of Department) must forward your nomination along with bio-data and attested copies of supporting documents.

Post-Wise Qualifications

  • Hindi Officer (Level 7) — Master's degree from a recognised university in Hindi with English as a subject at degree level, or Master's in English with Hindi at degree level, or Master's in any subject with Hindi medium and English as a subject at degree level. Must have translation experience from Hindi to English and vice versa.
  • Administrative Officer (Level 7) — Degree from a recognised university. Officers holding analogous posts on regular basis, or with 8 years regular service in Level 6 (Rs 35,400-1,12,400).
  • Hostel Warden-cum-PT/Sports Instructor (Level 6) — 12th pass from a recognised board. Must have civil security or disaster relief operations training experience, and 3 years experience in firefighting or civil security operations.
  • Demonstrator (Level 4) — 12th pass from a recognised board. Must have civil security instructor or disaster-related training in fire prevention, and diploma in disaster management or related qualifications.
  • Sub-Instructor Relief Operations (Level 6) — 12th pass from a recognised board. Must have civil security or disaster relief instructor training and 3 years experience in related fields.
  • Sub-Instructor General (Level 6) — 12th pass from a recognised board. Similar requirements as Relief Operations with fire safety and civil security training background.
  • Lower Division Clerk (Level 2) — 12th pass from a recognised board. Skill test in typing: shorthand at 80 words per minute, transcription at 65 minutes (English) or 75 minutes (Hindi) on manual typewriter, or 50 minutes (English) and 65 minutes (Hindi) on computer.
  • Driver Mechanic (Level 2) — 10th pass from a recognised board. Must hold heavy vehicle driving licence and have 3 years experience driving and maintaining heavy vehicles. Should have automobile workshop training from an ITI or recognised institution.
  • Multi Tasking Staff (Level 1) — 10th pass from a recognised board.

Age Limit

  • Age range: 18 to 27 years for direct recruitment posts (as per Central Government orders)
  • For deputation: Age relaxation is available as per government norms. The maximum age limit for receiving applications shall not exceed 56 years (6 months before superannuation date)
  • Age relaxation is available for candidates from NE states (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim), Himachal Pradesh, Lahaul & Spiti, and similar remote areas as per government orders

Salary

  • Hindi Officer / Administrative Officer: Pay Level 7 — Rs 44,900 to 1,42,400 per month
  • Hostel Warden / Sub-Instructor (Relief Ops) / Sub-Instructor (General): Pay Level 6 — Rs 35,400 to 1,12,400 per month
  • Demonstrator: Pay Level 4 — Rs 25,500 to 81,100 per month
  • Lower Division Clerk / Driver Mechanic: Pay Level 2 — Rs 19,900 to 63,200 per month
  • Multi Tasking Staff: Pay Level 1 — Rs 18,000 to 56,900 per month
  • Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and other allowances as per Central Government rules applicable to deputation postings

Selection Process

Since these are deputation posts, there is no written exam or interview for external candidates. The selection follows a departmental process:

  1. Nomination by HOD — Your Head of Department forwards your bio-data and supporting documents to NDRF HQ
  2. Screening — NDRF reviews nominations against eligibility criteria and recruitment rules
  3. Departmental Promotion/Confirmation Committee — A committee comprising Deputy Inspector General (NDRF) and two Commandants evaluates the nominations

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting disaster response training programmes and courses at the NDRF Academy for NDRF personnel and other stakeholders

  • Prepare training materials, demonstrations, and practical exercises related to natural and man-made disaster response operations
  • Manage hostel facilities, sports activities, and physical training schedules for trainees and course participants
  • Maintain official records, typing and clerical work, data entry, and general office administration as per assigned duties
  • Drive and maintain heavy vehicles used for disaster response training, field exercises, and official duty purposes
  • Assist in translation and documentation work in Hindi and English for official communications and training manuals
  • Perform multi-tasking duties including housekeeping, messenger work, and support functions across the Academy campus
