National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Consultant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was set up under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and is chaired by the Prime Minister of India. It is the apex body responsible for laying down policies, plans, and guidelines for disaster management in the country. NDMA has released an advertisement for the position of Consultant (Project Review & Coordinator, DM-II Division, MHA) on a contract basis. In this role, you will review disaster management projects and coordinate between NDMA and the Ministry of Home Affairs, reporting to a Joint Secretary (JS)-level officer / Divisional Head. Retired Central and State Government employees can also apply, with a relaxed maximum age limit of 62 years. This is a good opportunity for professionals in disaster management, policy research, or data science who want to work on national-level disaster preparedness and coordination. Note that this is a temporary contractual engagement — NDMA can end the contract with one month’s notice, and you can also resign by giving one month’s notice.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You need a Master's degree in Disaster Management, Computer Applications (MCA), Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, GIS, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or Environmental Science.
- Experience: You must have at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field.
- Desirable: Familiarity with working across Ministries, Departments of the Government of India, and State/UT governments is preferred.
- Skills: Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills, along with proficiency in data collection, cross-comparative policy evaluation, and repository management. Good command over written and spoken English and Hindi is expected.
Age Limit
- The maximum age limit is 40 years for general Consultant applicants.
- Age Relaxation: Retired Central or State Government employees applying as Consultants can apply up to a maximum age of 62 years.
Salary
- You will get a remuneration of Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 per month as a Consultant.
- For retired Government employees engaged as Consultants, remuneration and allowances will be regulated as per Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure guidelines (O.M. No. 3-25/2020-E.II.A dated 9 December 2020).

Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate ongoing disaster management projects for the DM-II Division
- Coordinate between NDMA and the Ministry of Home Affairs on project matters
- Collect and analyze data related to disaster management policies and programs
- Prepare detailed reports, documentation, and cross-comparative policy evaluations
- Maintain records and a repository related to project reviews
- Liaise with various Ministries, Departments, and State/UT governments as required
- Support the JS-level officer / Divisional Head with analytical inputs and briefings
- Draft correspondence and documentation in both English and Hindi
