BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (NABI), located at Sector-81, Mohali, Punjab, is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Since it was set up in 2010, NABI has worked on bio-fortification, designer crops for better nutrition, sustainable food solutions and evidence-based functional foods to fight malnutrition, with the larger goal of driving translational science in India's agri-food biotech sector. It has now invited applications for one Research Associate-III (RA-III) position in its Food and Nutritional Biotechnology division. This role supports the project "Genomics assisted improvement of scented rice from Assam (Joha) and Manipur for yield enhancement under stress and improved nutrition" (GAP-61), led by Prof. Ashwani Pareek (Executive Director, NABI) with Dr. Joy K. Roy (Scientist-G, NABI) as Co-Principal Investigator. The engagement runs up to 11 June 2029 or availability of project funds, whichever is earlier, and selection is made purely through an online interview — there is no written test involved.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: PhD or equivalent degree with three years of research, teaching, design and development experience after M.V.Sc / M.Pharma / M.E / M.Tech, along with at least one research paper in an SCI (Science Citation Indexed) journal.
• Desirable Experience: Bioinformatics analysis of large next-gen sequencing data (short and long reads), bioinformatic pipeline development in plants, development of reference-quality genome assemblies, and building super pan-genome landscapes.
• Job Responsibility (as per the advertisement): Development of a platinum-standard reference-quality genome of Kola Joha rice and a super pan-genome landscape of Kola Joha and Manipur scented rice.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 40 years to apply.
• Age Relaxation: Admissible for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates as per Government of India instructions.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get Rs. 67,000 fixed per month plus 18% HRA.
• Pay and eligibility conditions follow the DST OM: DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26 June 2023 for Research Associates.
