MPKV, Rahuri, under the Government of Maharashtra, has released a notification for 1 Research Associate post in the project "Development of Crop Weather Calendars, Spectral Libraries, and Irrigation Advisories to Support Parcel-Level Real-Time Autonomous Agro-Advisory System for Farmers in PoCRA cluster of Maharashtra." The position is based at the CAAST Building, Central Campus, MPKV, Rahuri, under the Department of Agricultural Engineering. This is a purely temporary, contractual post tied to the project's duration — candidates working in Remote Sensing, GIS, or Agricultural Meteorology fields should apply. The project aims to build a real-time, farm-level agro-advisory system for farmers across the PoCRA cluster of Maharashtra, so the Research Associate's work will directly support better crop and irrigation planning for farmers in the state.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Remote Sensing and GIS/Geo-Informatics/Agricultural Meteorology, OR M.Sc. (Agri.) in the same field with 1st division/60% marks (or equivalent overall CGPA) and at least 2 years' experience.
• Desirable: Experience or knowledge in RS/GIS applications for agriculture, water resources, hydrology, weather, and climate change.
• Desirable: Experience analyzing weather, crop, and soil data for weather-based agro-advisory services.
• Desirable: Knowledge of crop weather calendars, crop evapotranspiration (ET), crop coefficient (Kc), and irrigation scheduling.
• Desirable: Experience handling Automatic Weather Station (AWS) data, weather databases, and data analysis tools.
• Desirable: Familiarity with remote sensing, GIS, and precision agriculture decision support systems.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 40 years for men and 45 years for women for this post.

Salary

• Candidates with a Ph.D. will get Rs. 67,000 per month (consolidated) plus HRA as applicable.
• Candidates with a Master's degree will get Rs. 61,000 per month (consolidated) plus HRA as applicable.

Terms of Engagement

• The post is purely temporary and tied to the duration of the project. Your engagement ends automatically when the project's tenure is completed, or on the date stated in your appointment order, whichever comes first.
• You will be under the administrative control of the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of the project.
• As a Research Associate, you are expected to work full-time on the project and will not be allowed to take up any other job or paid appointment during your tenure.
• You may be required to work anywhere within the jurisdiction of MPKV as the project's needs arise.
• You will have no claim to regularization or absorption against any regular post at MPKV on completion of the project.
• If you wish to leave before your tenure ends, you must give one month's notice in writing, or remit one month's salary in lieu of notice.
• You may be deputed by the PI to attend symposia, seminars, conferences, workshops, or training programs within India as part of your role.
