The Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) is hiring 2 Legal Officers for the Jr. Grade of Mizoram Legal Service in the Law and Judicial Department. MPSC has released Advertisement No. 17 of 2026-2027 dated 22 July 2026 for direct recruitment to 2 posts of Legal Officer (Jr. Grade of Mizoram Legal Service) under the Law and Judicial Department, Government of Mizoram. As a Legal Officer, you will examine and vet court cases, MoUs, and legal documents, review legislative and regulatory drafts, and advise government departments on legal matters. This is a Group 'A' Gazetted entry-level legal post, well-suited for practicing advocates looking to move into government service.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a university recognized by the Bar Council of India.

  • Mizo Language: You must pass the Mizo Language Proficiency qualifying test, unless you studied Mizo as a subject up to Class X (HSLC) or opted for Mizo as MIL outside Mizoram — in which case you are exempted.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 21 and 35 years old as on 1 August 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: ST/SC candidates get up to 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit, or as notified by the Government from time to time.
  • Aadhaar Card is not accepted as proof of date of birth — use your HSLC/HSSLC certificate, Voter ID, or a digitized birth certificate instead.

Salary

  • This post carries Level 10 of the Pay Matrix, applicable to Group 'A' Gazetted officers of the Mizoram Government.
  • You will also get allowances as applicable to Group 'A' officers under Mizoram Government rules.

Selection Process
