MeECL Graduate Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) is taking on Graduate Apprentices in the General Stream through its Human Resource Development Centre at Umiam, Meghalaya. The state-owned utility works across electricity generation, transmission and distribution. This is a fixed-term training engagement under the apprenticeship framework, with learning organised around the trainee's subject or discipline.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Arts: The Arts stream forms part of the corporation's General Stream apprenticeship intake.
  • Law: The notice includes a separate Law stream within the same training programme.
  • Science: Science graduates join the General Stream programme under its discipline-based training arrangements.
  • Commerce: Commerce is also covered by this common notice and application format.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Training status: You join as an apprentice trainee. Completing the programme does not oblige MeECL to offer you employment, or oblige you to accept an offer.
  • Tenure: Training runs for one year from the apprenticeship agreement. The contract ends when that training period finishes.
  • Training routine: You follow MeECL's working hours and holidays, attend regularly and follow the training schedule. Leave follows the apprenticeship rules.
  • Progress reviews: Training follows the modules for your subject or discipline, with evaluation and feedback at the end of each quarter.
  • Conduct: MeECL's rules for the corresponding employee category govern conduct and discipline during training. Unsatisfactory participation can lead to disciplinary action or cancellation.
  • Stipend continuity: Continued payment depends on satisfactory work and conduct. If these are unsatisfactory, the employer may seek the apprenticeship adviser's consent to stop payment.
  • Early termination: Failure to meet the contract terms may bring a training-cost recovery obligation for the surety. Read this condition in the official agreement before signing.
  • Completion certificates: Satisfactory completion leads to an employer-issued training certificate. The Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region), or BOPTER, also issues a proficiency certificate for the training.
  • Personal expenses: You arrange and pay for travel, accommodation and food for verification, joining and the training period. MeECL does not provide these facilities or a travel allowance.
  • Communication: Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. Canvassing leads to disqualification, and training-related representations go to the Deputy Director, HRDC, MeECL, Umiam.

Application Submission Notes

The notice uses Application Format A and identifies the issuing office as the Office of the Director, Human Resource Development Centre, MeECL, Umiam-793103, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya. National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) enrolment is a prerequisite, and the notice names www.mhrdnats.gov.in for it. This registration supplies your enrolment number for the paper form; it does not replace the prescribed MeECL application.

Responsibilities

  • Attend the scheduled apprenticeship training regularly.
  • Follow lawful instructions from your employer and supervisors.
  • Keep the work records prescribed under your apprenticeship contract.
  • Complete the training modules for your subject or discipline.
  • Take part in quarterly training evaluations and feedback.
  • Follow the establishment's working hours, conduct rules and training requirements.
