Mayurbhanj District PGT Guest Teacher Recruitment 2026: Overview

Office of the Collector & District Magistrate, Mayurbhanj is hiring PGT Guest Teachers across five subjects for higher secondary schools under the ST & SC Development Department in the district. The engagement is on a purely contractual, honorarium basis — guest teachers are hired against sanctioned vacant posts until a regular teacher joins or for the academic year, whichever comes first. Postgraduates with a B.Ed. who want to teach at the higher secondary (+2) level in Mayurbhanj district can apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• PGT-English: teaching English at the higher secondary level across Mayurbhanj district schools.
• PGT-Physics: teaching Physics to Class XI and XII students.
• PGT-Chemistry: teaching Chemistry to Class XI and XII students.
• PGT-Botany: teaching Botany as part of the higher secondary science stream.
• PGT-Zoology: teaching Zoology as part of the higher secondary science stream.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Guest teachers are engaged only against a sanctioned vacant post, till a regular teacher joins or for a particular academic year, whichever is earlier.
• No regular claim: Guest teachers have no claim or right to a regular or contractual appointment at any point of time.
• Retired teachers preferred: Retired teachers who are physically fit are considered first for these guest-teacher posts; other eligible candidates are engaged only if retired teachers are not available.
• Duty scope: Guest teachers handle classroom teaching and correction of assignments and test papers only — hostel or office duties of the Headmaster/Principal cannot be assigned to them.
• Updates: Any addendum or corrigendum to this notice is published only on the district website and the District Welfare Office notice board — check regularly.

Download the application form from the district website mayurbhanj.odisha.gov.in and fill it carefully, attaching self-attested photocopies of your photograph, signature, ID proof and certificates. Send the completed form only by Registered Post or Speed Post to the District Welfare Office (DWO), Mayurbhanj, Odisha 757002, superscribing the envelope "Application for the post of Guest Teacher." Applications sent by courier or delivered by hand will not be accepted. Eligible candidates are separately informed of the walk-in interview date and venue.
