A Gaon Pradhan is a village-level government functionary who assists in land revenue administration and village affairs under the Assam Land Revenue system. This is a village-specific appointment — you must apply for the vacancy in your own village, and preference is given to candidates who are permanent residents of that village with land or property in their name. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed HSLC (Class 10) from a Board or Institution recognized by the State or Central Government.
• Citizenship & Residence: You must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of the specific village for which you are applying.
• Property: You should own land or immovable property in your name in that village.
• Fitness: You must be physically fit and of sound mind.
• Government service: You should not be a government employee or a member of any political party.
• Family norm: You should not have more than two living children, and you will need to submit a self-affidavit confirming this.
• Dues clearance: You should not have been declared insolvent or a defaulter in payment of Government dues — you will need to furnish a Bakijai Clearance Certificate.
• Preference is given to family members of existing or former Gaon Pradhans, taking into account the views of the Mouzadar.

Age Limit

• You must be at least 30 years old as on 1 January 2026.
• Your age will be calculated based on your Birth Certificate or HSLC Admit Card/Certificate — no other documents are accepted as age proof.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fixed salary of Rs. 14,000 per month.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. The selection will be done in 4 stages:

1. Scrutiny of Applications: Your application and documents will be checked for eligibility.
2. Viva Voce Interview: Shortlisted candidates for each village will be called for an interview.
3. Police Verification: Your background will be verified by the police.
4. Final Appointment: The candidate with the highest marks in the Viva Voce for the respective village will be selected.

Since each vacancy is tied to a specific village, you will only compete against other applicants for the same village — not against candidates from the entire district.
