Jal Shakti Vibhag (JSV), Himachal Pradesh is filling Para Pump Operator, Para Fitter and Multi Purpose Worker posts through its Jal Shakti Division, Reckong Peo in Kinnaur district. The workers will help run the division's water supply and irrigation schemes, against posts allotted by the Engineer-in-Chief, Shimla, in letters issued in March and April 2026.

These are part-time, hourly-basis engagements on a fixed monthly honorarium, not regular government posts. They suit local ITI holders from the electrician, pump and plumbing trades, and Class 8 pass candidates for the worker posts, who want steady work close to home.

Posts and Disciplines

• Para Pump Operator: runs and maintains the pumping machinery of the water supply and irrigation schemes; open to electrician, wireman, diesel or motor mechanic, pump mechanic and pump operator trades.
• Para Fitter: looks after the piped water supply network and distribution lines; open to the fitter and plumber trades.
• Multi Purpose Worker: the largest group in this drive, engaged on the schemes across the division's sub-divisions.

Post-wise Duties

Para Pump Operator

You will operate the pumps, motors and regulating valves of the schemes, trace faults in pumps and electrical systems, and handle minor repairs. The skill test checks pump installation and alignment, pressure and leak checks, replacing worn parts, and the lubrication and cooling of the pumping system.

Para Fitter

You will repair water supply pipelines, stop leaks, add new connections and close defunct ones. The work includes threading pipes with ratchet and die sets, regulating flow so every village gets a fair share of water in hilly terrain, and handling consumer complaints calmly.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Domicile: A Bonafide Himachali certificate is required for every post.
• Working hours: 6 hours a day on a part-time basis.
• Posting: Within the division, under the Reckong Peo, Sangla and Nichar sub-divisions. Requests to transfer from the assigned scheme are not accepted later.
• Performance reporting: Para Fitters and Para Pump Operators fill a quarterly self-reporting format for the Junior Engineer, and a yearly community certificate of satisfactory work and conduct goes to the Superintending Engineer.
• Termination: Unsatisfactory work can end the engagement, but only after at least three notices on a specific charge with no improvement.
• Shortlisting: A first merit list is drawn from qualification and experience, and about five times the number of posts are called for the skill and physical test by separate call letter.
• Middle marks for workers: For Multi Purpose Workers, merit counts the Class 8 marks only, so attach the detailed Middle marks sheet.
• Post count: The number of posts may be increased or reduced at any time.
• No TA/DA: You bear your own travel cost for the skill and physical test.
