JPSC has released notification for 103 Civil Services posts under the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination 2025 (Advt. No. 01/2026). Candidates who hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university can apply online. Last date to apply is 06 April 2026. You must be between 21 and 35 years old. Salary starts from Rs. 56,100 per month (7th CPC Level 10).

Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) conducts the Combined Civil Services Examination every year to recruit officers for various state government departments. This time, 103 vacancies have been announced across 9 different services and posts, including Deputy Collector, Police Superintendent, District Commandant, Probation Officer, and more. There is no limitation on the number of attempts as long as you meet the age requirement. If you have a graduation degree and want to serve in the Jharkhand state administration, this is one of the most prestigious exams you can take.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a Bachelor's Degree from any university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The degree can be from a Central, State, or Deemed University, or a foreign university approved by the Central Government.
  • Domicile: Reservation benefits are available only for Jharkhand domicile candidates. You will need to submit a local resident certificate issued by the competent authority.
  • Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts as long as you are within the age limit.

Age Limit

  • You should be at least 21 years old and not more than 35 years old as on 01 August 2026.
  • EBC/BC (OBC-I & OBC-II): Upper age limit relaxed to 37 years
  • Female (Unreserved/EBC/BC/EWS): Upper age limit relaxed to 38 years
  • SC/ST (Male & Female): Upper age limit relaxed to 40 years
  • EWS: 35 years (no relaxation beyond general category)
  • PwBD: 10 years additional relaxation over their respective category limit
  • Ex-Servicemen: 5 years additional relaxation over their respective category limit
  • Government Servants (Jharkhand): Candidates with 3+ years of regular service get 5 years additional relaxation

Salary

  • Deputy Collector, DSP, District Commandant, Assistant Director (Municipal), Probation Officer, Jailor, Assistant Director (Women/Child): Pay Band PB-2 Rs. 9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay Rs. 5,400 (equivalent to 7th CPC Level 10, starting at Rs. 56,100 per month)
  • Probation Officer, Assistant Director/Joint PRO: Pay Band PB-2 Rs. 9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4,800 (equivalent to 7th CPC Level 8, starting at Rs. 47,600 per month)
  • You will also receive DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Jharkhand Government rules

Selection Process

The JPSC Combined Civil Services Examination has 3 stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Screening): Two objective-type papers of 200 marks each (total 400 marks). Each paper has 2 hours duration. This is only a screening test and marks here do not count in your final merit. No negative marking in Prelims.
  2. Main (Written) Examination: Six descriptive papers totalling 950 marks. Paper-I (General Hindi & English, 100 marks) is qualifying only. Papers II to VI carry 200, 200, 200, 200, and 150 marks respectively. Each paper is 3 hours long.
  3. Interview Test: 100 marks. Candidates who clear the written exam are called for a personal interview. There are no minimum qualifying marks in the interview.

Grand Total: Main Written (950) + Interview (100) = 1,050 marks. Final merit is based on Main Exam + Interview marks only.

  2. If you are a new user, click on "New Registration" and create your OTR profile with personal details, photo, and signature.
  3. If you already have an OTR account, log in using your Mobile Number, Email, or OTR ID.
  4. Find the "Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination 2025" in the list of active examinations.
  5. Fill in the application form with your educational and other details.
  6. Pay the examination fee online through the payment gateway.
  7. Submit the application and download a copy for your records.

Responsibilities

  • Handle district-level administration including revenue collection, land records, and law and order
  • Manage implementation of government welfare schemes and development programs at district level
  • Supervise and coordinate with various departments for smooth governance in the assigned jurisdiction
  • Conduct hearings and resolve disputes related to land, revenue, and other civil matters
  • Oversee disaster management, relief distribution, and rehabilitation activities during emergencies
  • Prepare reports on district performance, law and order situation, and development progress
  • Monitor election processes, census operations, and other special assignments from the state government
  • Maintain public order and assist in policing, jail administration, and probation services (for DSP, Jailor, and Probation Officer posts)

Exam Pattern

The JPSC Combined Civil Services Examination is conducted in two stages: Preliminary Examination and Main Examination (Written + Interview).

Preliminary Examination (Screening)

You will face 2 compulsory papers, each carrying 200 marks (total 400 marks). Each paper gives you 2 hours. All questions are objective type (MCQ).

  • Paper I - General Studies I: 100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours. Covers History (15 Qs), Geography (10 Qs), Polity (10 Qs), Economy (10 Qs), Science & Technology (15 Qs), Jharkhand-specific (10 Qs), Current Affairs (15 Qs), Miscellaneous (15 Qs).
  • Paper II - General Studies II: 100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours. Focuses on Jharkhand-specific topics: Jharkhand History (16 Qs), Jharkhand Movement (14 Qs), Jharkhand Features (10 Qs), Jharkhand Culture (10 Qs), Jharkhand Literature (10 Qs), Education (6 Qs), Sports (10 Qs), Land Laws (24 Qs), Economic Development (20 Qs), Industrial Policy (12 Qs), Major Schemes (10 Qs), Plans (10 Qs), Forest & Wildlife (10 Qs), Environment (14 Qs), Disaster Management (10 Qs), Current Affairs (14 Qs).

No negative marking in Prelims. Papers are set in both Hindi and English. Prelims marks do not count in your final merit -- they are only for shortlisting candidates for the Mains.

Main Examination (Written)

The Mains has 6 descriptive papers totalling 950 marks:

  • Paper I: General Hindi & General English -- 100 marks, 3 hours (qualifying only, minimum 30 marks required; marks not counted in merit)
  • Paper II: Language & Literature (choose 1 from 15 languages) -- 150 marks, 3 hours
  • Paper III: Social Sciences (History & Geography) -- 200 marks, 3 hours
  • Paper IV: Indian Constitution, Polity & Public Administration -- 200 marks, 3 hours
  • Paper V: Indian Economy, Globalisation & Sustainable Development -- 200 marks, 3 hours
  • Paper VI: General Sciences, Environment & Technology -- 200 marks, 3 hours

Interview Test

You will face a personal interview worth 100 marks. There are no minimum qualifying marks in the interview.

Final Merit = Main Written Marks (Papers II-VI, total 950) + Interview (100) = 1,050 marks. Paper I marks are not counted.
